HP Compaq Laptop service and Quality isse
I came to visit consumercourt.in. I saw several people worldwide
experiencing my kind of issue. Below is the complaint I registered with HP
as: CCHSAP232861 and CCHSAP232854 on 17-09-09.
*"I bought my Compaq Presario laptop on August-07. Laptop details are as
Model No: V6211AU
Product No. RZ897PA
Serial No. CNF7170DDX
The laptop was heating since I bought the laptop. Firstly I thought
that it is not going to cause any complaint because of heating.
After 6 months, DVD writer stopped working. That time laptop is under warranty so service center replace DVD writer. After some time my wifi are stop working.
After 11 months ones again DVD writer stopped working and HP replaced it .
The heating was still there. You can sense it by just placing your
hand on the palm rest area or the readings of inbuilt temperature
Due to heating, battery life was also shortened. So I requested a
replacement .hp replaced the battery. After some time ones again DVD writer stop working, and HP replaced it due to under warranty. Heating is still intact.
Again in September 09, the motherboard failed. HP Service center told me that in this series of laptop there is manufacture defect and thatís why hp given one more year warranty .and your warranty are over in august 2009. But no one can communicate for that extended warranty to me.
First hp responsibility that they have to communicate for that manufacture defect and replaced the unit. But they do not do that and now they says your warranty expire one month before and you have to pay 15000 to 16000 for replacing mother board.
My Friend is electronics engineer ,he said that the issue is caused by the inefficient thermal design in the
series of these laptops worldwide, which cannot be solved by replacing
the motherboard. Replacing the motherboard is simply like removing the
effect a problem, rather than cause of the problem. Moreover, if a
single time repair can solve the issue, HP wouldn't have offered such
a repair, rather than providing 1 year limited warranty.
I had contacted National Consumer Helpline and as per their advice, I
am requesting a replacement of the laptop with one year warranty to
make sure that rep. Also note that I have already given the laptop to
the simtech Computer pvt. ltd several times by now for diagnosis. Each
time I had to travel 10 kms to and fro. Whenever the laptop was there
at the service centre, I was unable to work for those days. Moreover
the defect being thermal design failure, life of all parts are
affected. Be reminded about the fact that improper thermal deisgn
would decrease the life of electronic components exponentially. So
kindly avoid lagging further by 'escalating' the matter. If I didn't
find any response to this email, a letter will be sent to HP head
office in Bangalore. If no satisfactory response from their also, then
I will be constrained to handover the matter to legal experts and HP
will have to pay a higher price including compensation for the damages
incurred to me.
Awaiting your reply."*
Anand MAhal Road
I am thinking of sending a letter via registered post to their Bangalore
head office .
Chairman and Managing Director,
Hewlett-Packard India Sales Pvt.Ltd
24, Salarpuria Arena
Bangalore - 560 030
My doubt is it whether should I send it to HP President(PSG), Mr.Ravi
Swaminathan rather than Chairman and Managing Director?
What all documents will be required from my end, if I take the case to
I have the call reports of all replacedparts. . I do have the invoice with
me. As of now, only motherboard is not covered under warranty .its completed befour month
Hope I will get a replacement. Actually I am not interested in replacement,
because of the fact that several HP laptop has heating and allied issues.
There are several articles on supporting this fact. The replaced laptop can
also cause problem. So can I claim for a refund rather?
In Cochin, Kerala, Mr.Koshy John filed a case and he won. Another person
from Ludhiyana also won. The below links lead to them and may come in handy
for you as well.
Please tell me whether I should go to court. Am I elgible to claim?
A line in reply in this connection shall be highly appreciated.

HP compaq service during warranty
I bought a Compaq laptop( Model no. CQ40-425TU) on 29th Aug 2009 from retailer at Rourkela,After almost 2 weeks the machine stopped working.
I submitted the laptop at the HP authorised service station on 12th Sep'09.2 weeks have passed but they have not rectified the problem yet.
I even talked to the Accounts Manager HP based at Kolkata. The retailer, the service station and that accounts manager kept on refering me to one another.
He also promised me a DOA but i have not yet received even a call from them. They are not even saying how much time they will take to return my laptop.
I have already undergone lot of mental agony and m unable to find any help further.
After two days of all this I got a copy of DOA(defect on arrival)certificate from the service center but the dealer insisted on the original copy and refused to replace my machine. The service center guys said I will get the original copy at my residential address while the man at HP whom I contacted through my dealer (Mr Santosh Mandal),said I will be getting the DOA at service center. So the result is that I have now my one month old not working machine, the copy of DOA and a lot of frustration with me.Herewith I am also providing the contacts that I have touched many times upon
in order to seek help.
Model no. CQ40-425TU/VB641PA#ACJ
