Tata Indicom/Docomo - delay in providing refund

    Angry Tata Indicom/Docomo - delay in providing refund

    Hi,

    My Tata Indicom (now Tata Docomo) landline number was 040-66363994, and it was installed in my residence at Ameerpet, Hyderabad. In mid September 2011, I shifted my house to Venkatagiri area, where apparently Tata Indicom doesn't have coverage. The customer care pushed me around too much even to accept my request for cancellation. I finally managed to get them to take my request for cancellation on the 3rd of October 2011. I received a confirmation email on that day, promising me the refund of my deposit amount (of Rs. 1000) in 67 days. That due date has come and gone and there is no sight of my refund.

    Everytime I followup (there have been plenty) with their nodal desk, I am given a new timeline. On Jan 4th, Ms. Rekha at the nodal desk promised me that she would "personally" see to it that I will get my refund amount by 20th of January. Yet, I haven't received anything yet. I sent an email following up on the 20th, which got me no response. I called nodal desk (Arun) up today to check on the status, and I was told that whichever internal department they followed up on the 4th of Jan notified them that the refund will be made in 25 business days from then. There is no explanation provided as to whatever happened to 67 days SLA, and the subsequent commitment of 20th Jan by Rekha. Now I am told by Arun at the nodal desk that I can expect the refund by end of this month, January 2012. I'm seriously at loss at understanding how 25th business day from Jan 4 would be Jan 31st. It appears to be a plan to just silence me for time being.

    By pushing the timeline everytime, it appears to me that, Tata Docomo is trying to avoid any sort of payouts from their side, even if it's a legally binding miniscule amount. I find nodal desk is completely insensitive to the issue and their attitude drives me crazy.

    Please help me with getting my refund at the earliest. I have quite a few email communication to provide as evidence so please feel free to ask for any additional evidence or clarifications.

    Thanks for the response, and I shall wait till the month end for my refund.

    However, I am writing this here instead of directly to Customer.care@tatatel.co.in is that the responses I have been getting are inconsistent and reckless. For instance, I was written by one Mr. Dasrath from Customer Care on the 22nd of Jan that my cheque has been despatched on the 6th of Jan. But there has been no response when I wrote back to find out where that was despatched to (as it's not usual for couriers to take more than two weeks to deliver a cheque). Unfortunately that is the state of affairs from your end. So kindly bear with me and provide an update here (if you have anything that is different from the end of the month deadline).
