Kadava Chandrashekar Bhat is a poor farmer belonging to Padnoor village in Puttur Taluk. He accidentally fell from a mango tree trying to pluck green leaves for agricultural purpose. The fact that he had fallen was unnoticed by his wife for a long time even after Chandrashekar Bhat screamed at the top of his voice calling for help. Somehow someone (May God bless them) noticed it and then every one gathered and brought him to safety. He had broken his spine. He was in severe pain, unable to get up or walk. He was very fortunate not to have injured his Spinal Cord (Praise the Lord).
What happened subsequently is interesting. He was taken by the people to Dhanvanthari Hospital Puttur. The doctors resuscitated him and in two days time, he was operated by Dr. Mahesh, Spinal Surgeon from Mangalore along with Dr. Ajit Ortho Surgeon. What a remarkable surgery that was! Puttur had not seen that until then. In the same sitting Chandrashekar Bhat's spine was fixed from both front and back using Titanium cage and Screws. Two days later he ran a low grade temperature. Dr. Mahesh once again called in and gave a thorough wash under anaesthesia and set things on the right path. An infection of the implants was aborted. That was not to be. (God's Grace)
Today Chandrashekar Bhat is a proud agriculturist back on his feet and does almost all work. He does not have any residual pain.
Chandrashekar Bhat requested various authorities as to how to send the claim papers to Yashaswini Insurance. Everyone rebuffed. No one helped. After a year of investigation and research Chandrashekar Bhat found a way. His relative told him about the Consumer movement. He approached Mr. Sanjay D. Advaocte Puttur.
When the claim papers were sent to the Head Office of Yashaswini, promptly came the reply that he should not have gone to that hospital at all, which meant that he should have wasted valuable time searching for hospitals who will cater his need. He also learned that had he gone to a listed hospital he would have been in a greater soup, the networked hospital would have drained him off all his savings. That is Yashaswini's way and style of functioning. Chandrashekar Bhat was not to be fooled.
He lodged the Complaint and the rest is history. His case was decided in his favour at DK Dist. Forum presided by Mrs. Asha Shetty and joined by members Mrs. Lavanya Rai and Mr. Arun Kumar, holding Yashaswini deficient and ordering it to pay a sum of Rs.98,000/- plus a compensation of Rs.5,000/- and court expenses of Rs.1,000/- within 30 days.
Yashaswini's wicked ways was exposed.
