Shashidhar M. Bhat, a member of Sirisi Agricultural Co-Op Bank had Yashaswini. He had Osteomyelitis of the Calcaneal Bone. He underwent a surgery in Yenepoya Hospital under Dr. Mahesh K. The total expense spent by him was Rs.21,815/-. After accepting the bill, Yashaswini sanctioned and sent him a cheque for Rs.500/- saying that that is all payable under the scheme to him. District Forum Judge Mrs. Asha Shetty observed that without having served the terms or conditions, without first explaining the amount payable, arbitrarily sanctioning Rs. 500/= was not acceptable and ordered Yashaswini and FHPL to jointly and severally pay the full amount.
