Small investors not finding suitable avenues to invest can now avail of the help of finance marts - exclusive outlets set up in post offices.

The department of posts has opened four finance marts in the national capital at the New Delhi General Post Office and at the branches at Lodhi Road, Sarojini Nagar and Parliament Street, an official statement said.

These post offices, in addition to providing small savings facility to the public, will advise investors and accept their investments for further investing in the products of their choice.

For this purpose the selected post offices, on behalf of different organisations like the Reserve Bank of India, SBI Mutual, UTI Mutual, ICICI Prudential and IDBI have started selling their investment schemes.

"We will have about 150 finance marts in the country, out of which 10 will be in Delhi by the year-end," Postal Services Board member Jyotsna Dinesh said while inaugurating the four marts here.

With the setting up of these marts, all the activities of investment schemes and transactions can be done under one roof.

The above facility would help an investor get acquainted with investment choices after having detailed discussions and evaluation of different options with the finance marts.

For this a suitably qualified official, well versed with the different investment products available at post offices, is deployed at the marts.

Besides, payment of international money transfer through Western Union Money Transfer can also be done from these marts.
