Noida Software Technology Park Limited (NSTPL), a leading satellite teleport operator in India, Monday announced a tie-up with Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel), Asia's leading communications group.
The collaboration will be in developing e-learning solutions and company officials said the first phase of the collaboration would cover over 500 centres across India.
While financial details of the deal were unavailable, company officials said work on the project had begun and demonstration centres would soon be set up in Delhi and Singapore.
"The strategic alliance will give us the competitive edge in e-learning content and customised e-learning solutions in Asia and enable us to leverage on our strengths," Masagos Zulkifli, SingTel's vice president for regional and mobile satellite business, said in a statement.
Called Cosmic Campus, the proposed virtual university will cover a wide gamut of fields ranging from education of rural health workers and primary education to management studies.
"It will be our endeavour through Cosmic Campus to provide simple and sound technological and managerial mechanisms," said NSTPL group chairman J.K. Jain.
NSTPL officials said tie-ups with various universities were at an advanced stage and announcements for these would be made in July.
