State-run energy major Gail India Limited said Monday that the company has implemented a web-enabled gas management system to streamline the process of transportation and distribution.
The system has been introduced for the first time in India and ensures better coordination and total transparency and is a step towards advanced customer service, said a company statement issued here.
The gas management system facilitates smooth handling of different streams of natural gas from multiple supply sources pumped into the pipeline systems for delivery to multiple end users.
Gail India has a network of over 5,400 kilometres of natural gas pipeline.

Spinning mill bags $1.5 mn contract
Sri Jayalakshmi Spinning Mills Ltd. said Monday that the company has bagged a Rs.64-million ($1.45 million) order from Bangladesh.
The order covers export of 100 percent cotton and waxed knitting yarn, said a statement issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange, adding the entire order will be executed by the end of July 2005.
The company expects to bag another two orders from Bangladesh over the next couple of months. "This is in line with the Company's current focus on increasing exports of its core products consisting of yarns and threads," said the statement.

IVRCL bags two orders worth $89 million
IVRCL Infrastructures and Projects Ltd. said Monday that the company has bagged two new contracts worth Rs.3.93 billion ($89 million).
The company has bagged the contract to four-laning of road in the north-south corridor between Madurai and Kanyakumari from 42-80 kilometres, said a statement issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
IVRCL Infrastructures will also undertake four-laning of road in the north-south corridor between Madurai and Kanyakumari from 80-120 kilometres, added the statement.

Chinese tech firm appoints Indian dealer
Surana Telecom Ltd. said Monday that the company has been appointed as the authorised representative of China's Hisense Import-Export Company Ltd. for the Indian market.
Surana Telecom will be authorised to act as dealer and distributors for the plasma televisions and mobile handsets manufactured by Hisense Import-Export Company, added the statement.
Surana Telecom has submitted the CDMA mobile handset sample to Tata Teleservices and Reliance Infocomm for their approvals.
