This is in reference to the telemarketing call made by Ms. Preeti from India Infoline's landline no. 08064540944 to my mobile no. 9740887102 on 5th January 2010. The call was related to Financial planning. I was busy on another call at that time, so I called back since I was quite irritated by the unwanted call.
I asked Ms. Preeti how she got my number. She told me that it is in India Info Line database. I was quite angry and told her to transfer the call to her manager. After talking to the manager, Mr. Rajesh, I found out that they had purchased this database from some division of AXIS bank. I dont remember it distinctly but he mentioned that it was some vehicle loan division of AXIS Bank. He argued that I might have applied for a vehicle loan in the past. But I have never applied for a loan in any bank.
Anyways, I told him that my number was in the National Do Not Disturb directory; so it is a violation of the DnD rule. He gave me a very silly excuse. He said that they had received the database from AXIS bank that day itself and the employee had not cross checked the DnD database.

I had registered my number in the DnD directory immediately after getting the connection. This was in October 2008. The Dnd directory located at ndncregistry site indicates that my no. was entered in the DnD database on 2008-10-31 09:35:52.0.

I strongly request the concerned authorities to take action against such firms.
I see this as a violation at two places:
1. India Infoline
2. AXIS Bank (if Mr. Rajesh was telling the truth about buying the database from AXIS bank).

Also, I would like to know the implications of violating the DnD rule

PS: I have a postpaid connection so it is very easy to get the call record in the monthly bill.
