    Thumbs down Tata Photon + Download Speed 3.1 Mbps? Yeah, right

    I have been using Tata Photon Plus (Number : 9223613457) with a Postpaid billing plan of 5 GB Unlimited @ 950 with the assured speed being up to 3.1 Mbps. During the usage of the 5 GB which is supposed to be "high speed usage", the download speed that I've been getting is anything between 50-150 kB/s which is nowhere near the assured speed of "up to" 3.1 Mbps. I've lodged several complaints on the Customer Care & the technical team is unable to help me with the same & resort to telling me the standard trouble shooters which are of absolutely no help whatsoever. The technicians who have visited my premises told me that there is an issue with the signal inspite of the fact that it normally shows around 90 to 100% strength. Secondly, I've been using said product at King Circle, Matunga, Mumbai which is not exactly a remote location to face signal issues. Moreover, after I'm done with the high speed usage of 5 GB my connection gets converted to low speed going up to 155 kbps, out of which I'm getting only 15-17 kB/s worth of download speed. When asked the visiting technicians about this, they provide me with some evasive answers & refuse to help me with the issue. On the 6th of January as usual I expected my low speed usage to kick in as I was done using the 5 GB but I was in for a rude shock as all I saw by way of speed was 1-3 kB/s. When I spoke to the Customer Care I was told 3 different things by different executives before someone finally told me that my download speed had been slashed down to 32 kbps. Even with a speed of up to 155 kbps all I was being delivered was a measly speed of 12-17 kB/s & was unable to stream videos or load websites with high flash content & now that the speed has been slashed further even if I'm able to open a search engine or my e-mail account its a miracle. I'm disappointed & disgusted by the fact that even opening a search engine has become an exceedingly difficult task, to say nothing of being unable to download even the smallest of documents. I'm considering opting for another service provider since Tata is just out to fleece its customers by not delivering even 1/10th of what they promise & is providing services far worse than dial ups at exceedingly high tariff rates.
