    Angry MTNL - Poor Broadband Connectivity and Speed

    I have been using MTNL broadband connection for 6-7 months. My plan is TriB Combo Unlimited with 256 kbps speed. Last month broadband speed dropped dramatically to 20-25 kbps and after 4-5 days it stopped working at all. I registered complaints in this regard several times but no action had been taken by MTNL. Their customer care department is so idle that it is very very difficult to register your complaints or even get some information from them.:D:D:D First, they simply doesn't respond to your calls or even if someone answers the call he/she tells you to hold the line only to not answering back. You rarely get the positive response. Somehow I could register complaint three times after trying for 50-60 times. But they didn't take any action. Finally they told me to contact MTNL area Manager at 23628080. After trying for so many times at 23628080 they answered only once and told me to register my complaint at broadbandspeed@bol.net.in.
    I tried so many times to send mail at this email id but everytime I got a mesage that this address has some permanent fatal error and mail service was unable to find the address.
    Finally I sent my complaint at gme@bol.net.in. After that I started to get some positive response and finally an engineer visited my house to troubleshoot the problem. He restored the broadband connectivity but speed was still 25 kbps maximum. the engineer told me that I am lucky because other consumers were getting only 18-20 kbps maximum. He also informed me that MTNL has changed my plan and reduced the monthly charges accordingly.
    And according to new plan he maximum broadband speed will be 25 kbps. I can't understand how can they reduce the speed from 256 kbps to 25 kbps without even informing me about such change in advance. This is totally unacceptable. According to my requirements I need atleast 200 kbps and mere 25 kbps is useless to me.
    I received my current bill which suggests that there is no change in my broadband plan and monthly rental at all. My broadband plan is still TriB Combo Unlimited and rental is still Rs.649 + taxes. In this manner they are charging for 256 kbps while they are giving only 25 kbps (ten times lesser than the actual speed).
    Now my question is that what should I do? Should I pay my current bill? What they are doing is totally illegal and against the guidelines of TRAI.
    The telecom industry has made a significant growth over the past few years but I have no regret saying that MTNL is still the worst broadband service provider. MTNL should take some lesson from Airtel which is undoubtedly the best telecom company in India and has one of the most efficient, helpful, and educated customer care department.

    Default mtnl brodband is terrible

    i have been using mtnl unlimited plan for 1 year. in starting they provided download speed upto 100/150 kb/s. after a month i have been getting 25 to 28 kb/s. its very low speed. yesterday i went to the cyber cafe near by my house and there i saw the data transfer rate upto 120 kb/s. i asked them how u r getting such speed and what plan u r using? they told me the same plan as i m using. then i realize the mtnl is providing very low speed. can anybody tell what should i do to get my actual speed?

    Thumbs down MTNL billing dispute

    i am Vikash tyagi and my phone number is:- 01125330865. i availed the service of internet with this connection. this is the first time i am using MTNL number. i varified and confirmed with Mr. brjesh at posangipur sanchar haat about the internet plan. he asked me to opt for Rs. 649 (Trib band combo) plan including rs. 50 for modem and told me that i will get free surfing and downloadin in that, i paid the initial amount of rs. 500 to him on 23/6/09 Ob no-005426 and customer account number is 2053277428 also the executive made the changes himself in the Plan in his writting without me knowing about it.when i confirmed it in the customer care they told me that i have to pay rs.2700 before 29th august as in my plan there is no free downloading. i was cheated and foxed by the MTNL person.in the customer services i was told that the rs. 599 plan is for free downloading and surfing not the 649. after that i gave an application(1843) dated 13.8.09 to the posangipur PRO regarding the waiver of the charges and even he accepted that the mistake was of Mr. brajesh and same day i gave the request of change in Plan(247) 13.08.09. he assured me that if i can make the payment of rs. 600 rest of the amount will be waived off. however yesterday when i went to make the payment and to know the status of new plan, PRO said that he can'not confirm anything as decision has not been made yet. after that i received a mail atating that Rebate grant of Rs.1288/- has been given to the subscriber(me). now they are asking for 1500 unnecessairly. when it is a clear cut case of chaeting and miscommunication to the customer why the customer suffers? in their mail it is mentioned that The subs complaint already sent vide ID No. 261, dt.07.08.2009. under this complaint they are giving a charity rebate of 1288. there should be a action againts all who involved in this.

    Default Slow Speed

    i dont know if this is right place for it..but my name is nishant and my phone no is 28791324.
    I am a satisfied consumer of mtnl and very happy with is service. but since 2 weeks i have suddenly started receiving very low speed of 13 kbps on mtnl. My plan is 320kbps and i enjoyed the good speed i used to get before.
    Also it gets frequently disconnected and reconnected later without me doing anything. For eg. my net got disconnected twice just while writing this post.
    I complained at mtnl but they just call and ask if my phone is working or not. As dead phone is not my problem my complaint not fulfilled.
    i have no problem with mtnl as i have been using its services for long time and never faced such problem before.
    I just want my internet to work just like before it used to.

    Note: I complained for slow speed not dead phone by talking to mtnl operator on 1500

    Also it gets frequently disconnected and reconnected later without me doing anything.my phone also disconnect sometimes when I talk on in .my net shows that's internet connection is ok but when I surf on it I usually get break down on this connection
    I complained at mtnl but they just call and ask if my phone is working or not. When ever I call complained Then give a revert call but they don't have permanent solution. and when I call to toll services number they just give another person and so on
    i have no problem with mtnl as i have been using its services for a year and never faced such problem before.
    I just want my internet to work just like before plz.
