Reliance Infocomm Wednesday said it would soon achieve its goal of providing wireless Internet connectivity in 428 towns and over 20,000 villages across north India.

"We have already covered 334 towns and over 15,000 villages. The rest will be done by September," said Pankaj Rajpal, head of data products and wireless group business.

With data connectivity being made available, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh would enter a new phase of Internet revolution, he said here.

Rajpal said the Internet connectivity being provided would be of use even to villages in Punjab and other states, which have seen a large number of people settling abroad.

Reliance claimed that the voice and data coverage were being provided along 95 percent of national highways and 70 percent of state highways in the northern region.

Connectivity had also been made available along all major railway routes, Rajpal added.
