    Default Insurance Claim for the Broken Goods - Transit Insurance

    I shifted my house hold goods by one "M/ s Professional Couriers" , having their
    office in VASHI- New Bombay in Dec 2004 from Mumbai to New Delhi. I had seen
    their advt in daily local Mid Day and had called them to shift my luggage.
    However, there were no written terms of packing, delivery and opening the goods
    at destination. The person concerned gave all the details and took all the money
    from me in advance. The goods were Insurred for Rs. 3 Lakhs for transit
    insurrance ( All risks covered) by United India Assurance Co. Thane Office.

    The truck reached Delhi two days latter than promised and the goods were found
    broken, pilfreged, missing and damaged. Even the unloading was not done as it
    was promised. I informed their local contact person here and obtained a written
    statement from him.

    I have sent numerous letters to the service provider but have yet to get any
    reply from him. Also, when I lodged my claim for losses more than Rs. 1 Lakh,
    the surveyor cleared it only for Rs. 33 Thousand ( Approx). Since I couldn't
    produce the bills of the material purchased couple of year ago, my claim has
    been reduced by the surveyor. (IS IT CORRECT AS HOW CAN ANY ONE GUESS TO KEEP
    PRESERVING ALL THE BILLS FOR SUCH EVENTUALITY)

    I sent all my claim papers to Insurrance Co office in Thane in Aug but have yet
    to hear any thing from them even after sending them various reminders.

    I would be grateful if someone from the group can suggest me as how do I get (1)
    Full value of my losses (2) My dues from the Inssurance Co. (3) Can I move to
    Consumer Court to get compansation for all this harrasement & losses ?

    ALSO I WISH TO INFORM PEOPLE THAT SUCH PACKERS & MOVERS SHOULD NEVER BE ENGAGED
    AS THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY CODE OF BUSINESS .

    When you have insured the goods for transit from vashi to new delhi, the
    insurance company have issued you a policy. The terms & conditions of policy are
    explicit.

    If the surveyor has issued a survey report for inr 33,000/- based on his
    inspection of damaged goods & articles.

    Your precise questions are :

    Can you get a companssion for delay.. Yes.

    You will have issue a letter of reserve thru courrier services to your service
    providers who transported your goods to new delhi.

    If you do not have bills for the purchases, no body can help...

    Default Claim under goods in transit policy due to damaged road conditions

    Could you please clarify whether the claim under goods and transit policy in india is admissible incase the goods have been damaged during transit due to bad road conditions but without any accident???????????????

    Default Insurance claim on house hold transport

    I have shifted my House Hopld Goods thru Sahara Packers and movers from Hyderabad to Mumbai. Price of Transport including all Rs.13000. At the time of packing again they come up with other charges and rounded up with insurence Rs.16000/- but written insurance related entry showing separate. 13000/-paid at the time of packing remaining Rs.3000 at the time of delivery.
    consignment form, they written amount sum insured Rs.77500/- vaule and collected 3% on that Rs.2325/- insurance as premium and same has been entered in consignment (Total as Rs.16000/-)
    and also cpmmitted the delivery date, If fail to deliver the goods no need t pay remaining balance orally. Failed to deliver the goods on committed time. Discussed over phone and closed with paying amount of Rs.1000/-. Goods where delivered are partially damaged. same has been updated on back side of delivery chalan and also not signed on front page of delivery chalan.
    Now my major goods damage worth Rs.15000/- when i am trying to contact Sahara Packers and movers they are not responding properly.
    Can you please suggest me how to get damaged items claim from Sahara Pachers and movers.
