This is Gangotri Sarkar. I am lodging a complaint againt the Gastroenterology Department of Sir Ganga Ram hospital. My aunt had undergone a surgery on 13.08.2011. This was related to the removal of the stoma-bag which she was carrying last 6 weeks post her hysterectomy. The reason for providing the stoma bag was that the fibroids in the ovaries led to the rupture in the large intestine, hence bowel movement was channelized accordingly. So far the recovery was good. However, from the day of the second surgery where the stoma bag was removed and small intestine was connected to the large intestine, problems started. First the surgery took place at around 8pm which is understandable due to the Rush in the OT. However lot of harassment for the patients' attendant was caused by the hospital as the patient was admitted officially in their alibi City hospital. There weren't any arrangements provided for the attendant. Then attendant was asked to come all the way from city hospital at 12am! This all was due to the patients late OT schedule (as patient was under observation in the recovery room).when attendant wanted to stay in the resting area of Gangaram, they said its only meant for ICU patients' attendent.However the release was done within 3 days i.e. on Tuesday,16th. No diet chart was provided by the gastroenterology department , nor was anything other than SOFT DIET was suggested by Dr. Nandi(under whose supervision patient was admitted). Its extreme ignorance on part of the doctor which has irked me to the extent that I am writing this mail. Yesterday night at 3am again the patient had to be admitted to Metro hospital Faridabad as that was near to the residence. patient complained of severe pain in the abdomen and severe vomiting as well. metro hospital said that Dr Nandy's discharge report came in too early as hospital supervision was required for some more days.This extreme callousness of experienced doctor is uncalled for as the mental , physical and monetary harassment which we had to undergo is unthinkable. kindly let me know what legal steps can be taken by our family against Dr. Nandy for the ignorance which he has shown.Regards
