Since Fortis was Wockhardt before and deals with heart ailments, I took appointment with Dr. Vivek Jawali. After consultation I was asked to admit my father immediately for Angiography test since they suspected that he had heart attack and maybe there is a block. At 11AM i started the process and angiograph was done at around 4PM. He was moved to ICU for 1 hour observation. Inside the ICU, there was no staff or care. My father started sweating badly since there was not fan or proper Air conditioning and called for help but nobody responded. Later he enquired with a nurse and was informed that it is the responsibility of the Ward to take him and she left. After about 2 hours he sighted another nurse and warned her that we would lodge a complaint. Then he was moved to Ward. We were informed that since it was a Saturday, there are no staffs.

When I was admitting my father, I was given a package for Rs. 1700 and which includes all medicines and bed charges. Breakup was, Rs. 15000 for hospital charges and Rs. 2000 for medicine charges. I was informed that all the medicies that are required will be provided by the hospital. At 9PM, nurse gave me a prescription and asked me to get the medicine from 'somewhere'. When I enquired where I could get, she said she does not know and asked me to enquire with the hospital pharmacy. By the time I checked for the medicine in the hospital pharmacy and came back she had left since her shift was over.

On the day of discharge, no doctor attended to my father and we did not know what is the next course of action. We were informed that Dr. Vivek or Dr. Venkatesh will attend to my father. We did not even know the result of the test. We were informed that both the doctors are on leave and will not attend to my father. This is so careless. Later we enquired a duty doctor Dr. Deepak and he arranged another doctor to explain us the report.

At the time of bill I notice that Dr. Deepak has charged Rs. 450 as consultation. I had paid Rs. 800 as consultation for Dr. Vivek. Now, when the concerned doctor did not attend to my father, why was I charged?

Questions.

1. How can a hospital be so careless to banish a heart patient
in ICU without any staff? and how can they give answers
such as there are no staff since it is a Saturday? If that
is case why admit a patient? My father was sweating badly
and anything could have happened.

2. When I have charged for a package that includes 100%
coverage including medicines, why was I asked to get the
Medicines from 'somewhere' and that too in the night?

3. When I was directed to consult a perticular doctor, none of
them came. We had no idea what we should do after the
test. How can a hospital banish a patient? I am paying
for the service and no looking for charity.

4. When I have paid consultation for a Doctor and he did not
turn up, why should I be charged again for enquiring with
another doctor? I have for 2 consultation charges, but
consulted only one.

I demand refund of entire Rs. 18000. Rs. 2000 which was taken for providing medicines since I got the medicines and Rs. 450 as consultation for the duty doctor. The duty doctor should the fee for the actual doctor who was supposed to attend. Apart from this since my father had to face hard time in ICU I demand the entire package fee which was Rs. 15000. So, it would become a total of Rs. 18000.
