Dear All,
I, Prakash, Father of a 1.5 yrs old boy baby, Sai from Chennai. Last February 22nd morning, we gave a measles vaccine shot in Pediatric department, MIOT hospital, Chennai. In the same day, he developed diarrhea (more than 20 times) from the afternoon. At the time of midnight, he cried and he cant tolerate the abdominal pain which is accompanied with fever, because of the vaccine shot. the diarrhea may be due to food contamination, which we gave. By 2:30 AM we took him to the emergency ward of MIOT hospital and there is only 2 nurses who answered very lethargically then called a duty doctor. he answered with half sleep and he told he cant do anything since he is not a pediatrician. i asked him to call the hospital's pediatrician by phone to get some medical advice by which we can hold the situation till morning to meet the pediatrician. but both of the calls to the (2) pediatricians left unanswered. then he told us to give ORS powder till morning and then he asked to bring the baby by morning 9 AM.
By 9 AM, the situation gets worse and up to 11 AM, no pediatricians are available. is it a multi-speciality hospital ??? when i asked about the doctor to the nurses and the ward nurses, they asked why are you here? i cant control my patience. then i search for public relationship officer, who too not available for help, after a long search, i got her. no help !!!
the receptionist too gave very very bloody answers that it is quite common. i think they are coming for this job just to show the skin with tight dresses. not to serve the people. prostitutes. then finally doctor came and he too gave rubbish answer that why do you fear for just diarrhea (20 -30 times a day is normal for him)
Finally, i too a Ph.D degree holder in Biochemistry with hospital experience and working as a Consultant Medical Writer for a US company. So i know the complication well and even doctor too know my qualification as well as my job. If this is quite common for a medical field known person, what is the fate of the illiterates and poor peoples. Please Dont go to MIOT if you wish to save your life as well as others.
