Lackluster after sales service from LG We had purchased a Side By Side Refrigerator from LG, Model No. B217WLQ Serial No. 910TRCN00027. The purchase date was 29/01/2010.
First, we were never given any invoice by the seller. We know the date of purchase from our credit card record that we used to pay for the down payment.
The fridge stopped working within six months of purchase. Ice was forming everywhere in the freezer. It was making loud noises. We complained. They came. They told us that it was a minor insulation problem. They said that it is fixed.
The fridge has stopped working 12 days back, since 22nd May. We informed the dealer the next day and I sent an email complain from LG web site. The all expensive service guys showed up around 10:00 pm on Wednesday. After much investigations and "engineering work" they informed us that a chip was out and we have to cough off 1500+ for it. We agreed. They disappeared with promise of fixing it within next three or four days.
Since then we have not heard any positive words. Apparently, part is coming from Noida. May be walking.
I sent an email to LG Service at Serviceindia@lge.com day before yesterday that is on 31/05/2011. They reverted back saying that they have forwarded my email to their branch office for immediate action. I felt important and a VIP.
Forty-eight hours has passed since then no wards, no calls from LG. We, the poor consumer, called their service center. Now they are claiming to have informed us of needing at least 10 to 12 days for the repair.
My first question is, how can a manufacturer be so powerful and arrogant not to serve their customer and provide appropriate after sales service?
My second question is, who has set the consumer service standard in this country whereby a manufacturer dares to tell its customer to wait for ten days without a refrigerator?
My third question is why should a customer care whether the part to be acquired from Noida or Japan or Korea?
My fourth question is why LG is so ignorant and negligent by not putting the contact information of the corporate service heads in their web site.
LG must pay for consumer harrassments.
