The Indian men's team Friday entered the finals of the 43rd World Outdoor Target Archery Championship in Madrid.

The Indian trio of Tarundeep Rai, Goutam Singh Sardar and national champion Jayant Talukdar edged out the Polish team 246-233 in the semi-finals to set up a final clash with world champions South Korea Sunday, according to information received here.

Germany was the first team to lose at the hands of the Indians, the score reading 252-241. The Indians then marched into the quarter-finals, where they beat the US 255-236.

The Indian women's team, however, could not match the heroics of their male counterparts as world champions Korea overwhelmed them 244-233 in the semi-finals.

The team, comprising Dola Banerjee, Reena Kumari and Chekrovolu Swuro, had defeated Georgia 230-225 first and then got past Italy 233-229 to reach the last four.

They will take on Russia in a third place playoff Sunday.

In the men's recurve individual championship, Tarundeep went down to Riyuichi Moriya of Japan in the semi-finals and will now meet 6th ranked Choi Won Jong of Korea in a third place encounter.
