Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is opposed to sending fast bowlers to India for training under former Australian legend Dennis Lillee, The News reported Thursday.
"Pakistan has produced fast bowlers of the highest quality as compared to any other country and Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were the best choice to give training to the (four) bowlers," he said at a function organised by the Sports Journalists Association of Lahore (SJAL) Wednesday.
Inzamam said that in his 15-year international career he had not seen any better fast bowlers than Wasim and Waqar.
Also, Pakistan had its own cricket academy and it would be better if bowlers from the other countries got training in Pakistan, he added.
Before Pakistan toured the West Indies, Inzamam had advocated hiring a bowling coach for the team. But he changed his mind after the tour.
Asked why no quality off-spinner had emerged on the national scene after Saqlain Mushtaq, Inzamam said the Pakistan Cricket Board had put a ban on three off-spinners in domestic cricket for suspect bowling actions.
