Sania Mirza of India lost to Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia in a three-set thriller in the second round of the Wimbledon tennis championships here Wednesday.

The 19-year-old Kuznetsova, seeded fifth in the tournament, prevailed 6-4, 6-7 (4/7), 6-4 in a match that lasted two hours and 17 minutes.

Sania and Anna Chakvetadze had Tuesday lost her first round doubles match.
