National Cricket Academy chairman Brijesh Patel Wednesday backed Indian coach Greg Chappell's proposal for a voting right in the national selection committee.

"Even when I was chairman of the national selection committee, I preferred (then coach) John Wright's participation in the selection procedure," Patel told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of the Indian cricket board's New Area Development Programme committee here.

"It will be good if Chappell is given the voting right in the selection procedure. It makes more sense. It gets the coach more involved," he said.
