The National Cricket Academy (NCA) will select 15 bowlers who will travel with the Indian team within the country and bowl to them at the nets, chairman Brijesh Patel said here Wednesday.
"We have short-listed 15 players as identified by the spin wing. Now we plan to send them in batches of five to bowl to the national players at the nets during their series in the country," Patel told reporters after a meeting here of the finance committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
"The number in the list could rise with the inclusion of some pace bowlers. We will send the proposal to BCCI and await their approval," he said.
The spin wing comprising B.S. Bedi, E. Prasanna and V.V. Kumar short-listed the pool of 15 bowlers from all the zonal academies.
Patel said the three best players from the ongoing Hermu Adhikari tournament would be selected and sent for the Gavaskar-Border Scholarship.
"The tournament is going on right now. The zonal academies are all participating in it. The three best players will be selected for the scholarship," he said.
Frank Tyson and Brian Holder, the bio-mechanics experts from Australia, are currently holding Level-III coaching classes at the NCA and Tobin Martin might come to the academy in the near future to hold classes.
