The Delhi High Court Thursday indicated that it would allow the Indian cricket board to make interim arrangement by Monday for the telecast of the India-Sri Lanka home series beginning Oct 25.

A division bench of Justice M.K. Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Khanna was hearing a writ petition by Zee Telefilms Ltd challenging the eligibility criteria fixed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for granting of television rights for international matches to be played in India for four years, 2005-2009.

The bench directed the BCCI to file an affidavit Friday stating the alternative arrangement it had made for the telecast of matches starting with the one-day international series against Sri Lanka at Nagpur Oct 25.

The matter has been posted for further hearing Oct 24.

Earlier, BCCI counsel Soli J. Sorabjee submitted that the board had made some alternative arrangements for the telecast of the matches against Sri Lanka and South Africa, which begins Nov 16.

Zee Telefilms Ltd. counsel Harish Salve opposed the submission saying that it was contrary to a previous statement made by the board before the court.

The high court had earlier allowed the BCCI to open technical part of the bid for the telecast rights and submit the report to the court. Accordingly, the board had done that and sorted out eligible bidder for the financial bid.

BCCI told the court that Zee Telefilms Ltd. had been found ineligible for the financial bid.

It also challenged the maintainability of the petition saying that the Delhi High Court did not have jurisdiction to hear the petition as BCCI as well as Zee Telefilms Ltd. offices are located in Mumbai.
