The India-Pakistan peace process is welcome but its slow pace is "not at all encouraging", a leading Pakistani newspaper said Tuesday.

The Urdu newspaper Jang made the editorial comment a day after foreign ministers K. Natwar Singh of India and Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri of Pakistan held talks aimed at boosting the peace dialogue.

The editorial referred to Natwar Singh's statement on his arrival here Sunday evening - his second visit to Pakistan in eight months - that both countries were desirous of establishing peace and friendship.

"The slow pace of the dialogue is not at all encouraging," it said. "It has to be seen what attitude the Indian foreign minister adopts about the desire he mentioned in his opening statement after arriving in Islamabad."

All English and Urdu language dailies Tuesday prominently reported the India-Pakistan dialogue, with the agreement on bilateral pre-notification of ballistic missile tests grabbing dominant space.

Some Urdu newspaper highlighted the differences between India and Pakistan over Jammu and Kashmir.
