How many Indian cricketers will figure in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World XI that will play a six-day 'Super Test' against world champions Australia at Sydney in October?

An inkling to the answer will be available Wednesday when the ICC announces the selection panel at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne.

Maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who is currently battling an elbow injury, consistent Rahul Dravid, successful left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan and veteran leg-spinner Anil Kumble are the front runners to find a place in the World XI, while former India captain Sunil Gavaskar is almost certain to be on the selection panel, if not heading it.

S.K. Nair, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), left Dubai for Melbourne Tuesday to attend a series of ICC meetings.

Nair was in Dubai for an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting that was chaired by council president Jagmohan Dalmiya.

Apart from the announcement of the high-profile selection panel, the chief executives of the 10 Test-playing countries will meet in Melbourne Saturday and Sunday.

The selectors will be announced by the ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed at a ceremony where the panel chairman will be present for interaction with the media, the ICC announced here.

"One of the game's greatest players and chairman of the ICC World XI selection panel will be at the announcement and available to the media along with a number of members of the Australian cricket team including Ricky Ponting (captain), Glenn McGrath, and Michael Clarke," said ICC.

The members of the panel are all expected to be former Test players of repute and standing.

Australia has been confirmed as the team to take on the ICC World XI in the Super Test and should seal their place in the three Super Series one-day matches if they win the ongoing VB Series triangular this week.

Australia's opponent in the final, whether Pakistan or the West Indies, will be decided later Tuesday in a crucial league match between the two teams.

ICC will also announce ticketing information for three-match, Super Series one-dayers Oct 5, 7, and 9 at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne and the one-off, six-day Super Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground Oct 14-19.
