Medium-pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji has recovered fully from the groin injury he had sustained during last year's Natwest Cricket Trophy in England and is ready to make a comeback.
The new ball bowler, who was fine-tuning his skills at the MRF Pace Foundation here, said he had recovered from his injury and was working hard on the nets for a while.
"I was tested in Mumbai before being cleared by Andrew Leipus," the physio of the Indian cricket team. "I have also informed the cricket board in writing about my full fitness and availability for selection and hope to get back into the Indian team," the lanky cricketer said.
Balaji said he would be playing in the Challenger Trophy in Mumbai (Feb 7 to 10) to prove his fitness but added that he was looking forward to be picked to play against Pakistan.
"I am really very excited about the upcoming Pakistan tour of India," he said.
Talking about his fitness, Balaji said, "I do not want to remember my injury. I am happy about my fitness and am focussed now and ready to make a come back."
At the nets, the mercurial bowler was bowling to a single stump with long and short steps, practicing to keep his hand and leg positions in line.
Those who watched him releasing the ball were convinced that the city lad is absolutely fit and fine and raring to go.
