    Default Faulty Meter

    Dear Sir / Madam,

I reside at Habibullah Road, T Nagar. We have been facing a lot of problem in the last 6 - 7 months because of Faulty Electricity Meter.

Our meter was replaced and a new one was installed in the month of January 09. We were adviced by the TNEB to pay Rs 4200/- as the electricity charges. We were informed that it was the average and we had paid the amount in January '09 itself. However we were surprised to note that the meter failed once again when the personnel from the EB had come in to take the reading in the month of May '09. We had written a letter addressing the same to the AE for Pondy Bazaar. We were told that the meter will be installed in a few days. We were charged an exorbitant amount of Rs 11.900/- as the average which we had also paid. The first letter was given to the concern person in the first week of May, however the meter was not replaced. On following up with the department, we were told that the concerned person was involved in election duty and the meter will be replaced after the elections. We had waited and I had followed up again for which I was told that there was a shortage of meters and an order has been placed and they would replace it by the end of May '09. There was no further communication from them what so ever. Upon following up for the third time I was again given the same reason. The meter was finally replaced on 20 June, 09 (after waiting for nearly 45 days).

We were under the impression that everything was normal, since the concerned person had assured last time that all dues were paid. We were shocked when EB personnels had come to our house to disconnect the power on 22 July, 09 without any prior notice. We were again told to pay an average of Rs 16,000/-. We have paid this, however I want you advice if we could take this legally.

    Thanking you,
    Your faithfully
