Khaitan, a generic brand in the fan industry, is diversifying into electrical appliances with an investment of Rs.200 million ($438,000) to manufacture 15 new products.

"In the next 10 months we will invest Rs.200 million and come up with a new factory at Kala Amb in Himachal Pradesh," Khaitan managing director Sunil K. Khaitan said here Tuesday.

He said his company had launched a complete bouquet of products serving as electrical solutions for Indian households, including energy saving compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), domestic wires and cables, miniature circuit breakers, residual current circuit breakers, isolators and distribution boards.

With a range of electrical appliances, the company is eyeing a market share of 10 percent in the segment by March next year. It also expects 40 percent growth in the current fiscal.

It will launch 15 new products, including an electrical chimney.

Khaitan said the company, listed in both NSE and BSE, aims to clock a turnover of Rs.2 billion in 2005-06, up from last year's Rs.1.29 billion.

In the fan industry, Khaitan holds 15 percent market share and produces 1.7 million fans a year.
