    Thumbs down Sony India Service center Unaffordable cost for repair - no response from management

    Here is my experience with Sony Support or service center, which is targetted to squeeze as much money as they could from customer or make the customer throw away the product if it worns out. Very un-friendly and no proper response even from senior support person.

    Sony after Sales Sevice is very expensive and they dont care about customers, thier service center are to rip off as much money as they could from the customer. I want sony to write a disclaimer in every product in India that "DO NOT EXPECT SONY PRODUCTS TO WORK AFTER TWO OR THREE YEARS, IF IT WORKS ITS YOUR LUCK. MOREOVER FOR SERVICE WE CHARGE THE SAME PRICE OF PRODUCT OR EVEN MORE"

    The below is the email return to Mr. Subhashis Bhagchi, a week back and no response so far.

    Dear Mr. Subhashis Bhagshi,

    I am Prakash, Sony was one of my favorite brand until off late I realized it NOT worth it., wherever I see a sony hoarding or a Sony outlet, I feel it’s a 0% customer friendly brand. And in India you damage the brand name by providing the worst customer support..



    It took 6-7 times calling, of 5-10 minutes each to reach Mrs. Sharon Maria with regards to my issue. Since no one understood the problem. And Mrs. Sharon promised to call back and never did; finally I have to call here twice or thrice to reach her.



    Alright getting back to the problem:



    I bought a Sony micro-hi-fi system in Feb 2007 and it stopped playing the CD. The unit is very sparingly used by my parents. I gifted them a sony hi-fi because I thought its durable then any other brand, BUT any other brands are working fine which is much cheaper than sony.



    Now the cost of repair was quoted as Rs.4242, but orally at the service center it was mentioned as 4700 odd first.

    The cost of system is 6900, do you think any customer would like to spend 80% of money for repairing a unit after its depreciation? What is the justice given to the customers? After further talks I was given a quote of 3215.25 again that is 50% cost of the unit. I cannot afford more than Rs.500 for this unit.

    I had a doubt on the Madurai Service center about its quote, quality of service, trust and reliability , so thought would give it in Bangalore, but the review shows Bangalore service center’s are worst than Madurai.



    Please let me know what best you could do on my micro-hi-fi system, I cannot afford the price you have quoted.



    So feel free to suggest should I throw away the system since your repair cost is too much and unreasonable? Or should all the customers of sony be aware of your post sales service so that they take the call on taking up the risk of buying sony products?

    I have sent one more email to the Sony Customer Care Manager Subhashis Bakshi and still no reply? I have a doubt if Sony is cheating with a inactive Email id? Whoever wanted to escalate they are giving this email id and there is no response from it.

    i would like to inform you that i yogesh on the behalf of abhyuday singh submitt a complaint along with my dvd player at nri electronics dr white housenear vinayak hospital sec-27 noida because i have got some problems in my dvd player at 10june 2010 and the purchasing date was 14 june 2009 i was make a compalaint to sony customer care at12 june and they reply me that after 14 june it it wll also rectitifided in warranty and i was submitted the dvd player at18june2010 but today i have got the call from the given service centre that lence is out of order and it should changable in paid service i have got very deppressed and frusrtrated due to this behavior of sony india kindly help me out my dvd no is-Ns728hpb and job_information no is NRI168195.

    the sony music system do not work, the after sales service is very poor, the technicians are novice, they do not know how to handle the complaints.

    hello sir,
    i am Naveen from Mangalore , Karnataka.... I had purchased a sony cybershot(MODEL NO: DSC-H55) camera on september 2010...... It started giving me problems from mid december 2010. i contacted the dealer from where i puchased the product and so he asked me to take it to service centre in Mangalore. SOUZA SERVICE CENTRE IS IN VALENCIA MANGALORE, I reached there and showed them the camera.
    The technician told me there is some problem(PICTURE OUT OF FOCUS) with the product and asked me to keep the product there for repair,
    THE JOB INFORMATION NUMBER IS SZM8747WITH CUSTOMER NAME KISHORE(my elder brother).on 17/12/2010. with battery as the accessory..

    I contacted the service centre this morning(20/12/2010) to ask about the status of repair. They told me that they have sent the camera to bangalore and it will take another 1 week to 10 days to repair the product.........

    SonyIndia is not bothered about the customer, as i have to go on a holiday for christmas and new year. What should i do now..........Why r u cheating the customer by selling duplicate and cheap quality products............

    i have had this problem earlier too from sonyindia regarding my lcd tv. which my family purchased few years back( V series) before 3 years.. The TV started giving problems after 1 year, so i serviced it and paid around 12000 for the main board.. it gave the same problem after 1 year of the repair and i serviced it again for 9000. its now been 5 months after the second repair. i purchased the new tv for 48000.
    why r u cheating me.........

    I want to inform u regarding the service centre in Mangalore SOUZA SERVICE CENTRE is the worst place to go and talk about our problems,,,,,,, they have a group of unskilled and stupid servicemen there, they dont have any expertise regarding as to how to talk to customers and reply against the issues of the product..........
    i asked them how can this product be damaged in 3 to 4 months.... and he replied me telling that "we cant tell anything about electronic product nowadays.".....what a stupid reply.......
    what nonsense is he speaking , he can tell that he does not know anything about the repair ( foolish ). a bunch of fools sitting there , having a lot of attitude problems.
    The same nonsense he told us when he came home to repair the lcd tv few months back........
    His reply was that the local cable connection had problem, so i called the cable operator in his presence and told about the problems.
    The cable operator had to check all the connections in building and told u r stupid servicemen that it was the problem with the tv...u r servicemen was a laughing stock that day.....
    i can supply you some skilled sevicemen if u want them soon..........

    Now coming to issue of the camera(cybershot) , DSC-H55
    i dont want any repairs on that camera as i dont trust u r service any more..........
    i want a new product as replacement for the (DUPLICATE/CHEAP) product i purchased .... i dont want to wait for 1 week or 10 days as informed by sevice centre.
    I dont want the product with 3/4 years warranty...........
    Please give me a product which will work fine for atleast 1 year.............
    And if u cannot give me a replacement then u can keep my camera with you as a christmas gift ,,,,,,, i will parcel all the accessories and send it you.
    and if u want money to repair it then i would help u too.

    i will be waiting for u r reply, ( i am feeling i wasted my precious time writing this email)

    I purchased one SONY LED 32" TV on 3.11.2011 from Great Eastern Applaincees Pvt
    Ltd. The set showed some problems from the Day-1. I took up the matter with the
    SONY HELP LINE ( 1800-103-7799) on 10.11.2011. They, over phone gave some instructions but the problem remains. They assured to send engineer to look into the
    promlem and get it redressed. Till date ie 15.11.2011, no one from SONY India
    contacted me.
