    I signed up for new service about 2 months ago with a HD-DVR box. During initial install itself technician was unable to get HDMI connection to work. TV was displaying message that "resolution mode is not supported". It's an imported TV. So he told problem is with TV (I guess the hdmi output on the DVR box is set to PAL only). Component connection worked and we left it like that. During the course of 1st month so many problems with DVR, like it will automatically power off, DVR recordings will have audio lag, rew and forward will not work properly.

    After working like this for over 1 and a half month, all of a sudden the output stopped working on the component output also. TV was giving the same message, 'resolution mode not supported". Initially we were getting this message only on the HDMI output and now after 1 and a half month, same message on component output too. I suspect reliance has changed their software on the DVR box.

    complaint was made and technician came with a brand new box, which worked for about 12 hrs and stopped suddenly with the same message. complaint was made and technician came with another new box and this time it worked for about 5 mins only. Another technician came with an "engineering release" unit and it worked till he did the factory reset to bring the stb out of "engineering release" mode.

    I've complained so many times to get the case escalated, as this is something related to the software on the hd dvr box. Technicians don't seem to understand that.

    Call was escalated to Reliance manager, Manikandan. He did the same mistake sending technician with another box. box behaved the same way, like it will work for few minutes and switch back to "mode not supported". Repeated calls
    to manikandan was never answered. finally I got call from Vivek service center that manikandan will personally come to my home one day. He never turned up and when called, he said that he is not aware about that and sent another vivek's technician next day, which again did not work.

    after repeated calls to manikandan, he agreed to come one day at 10:00 a.m. We called him at 10:00 a.m. and he said that he is stuck in traffic. After waiting for an hour, we left house. During this one hour, we called him multiple times and he never answered his phone. After we left, he had come to our house. He then promised to come back on the same day at 4:30 p.m., and it's been 2 days now and he is still coming. No calls from him or the Vivek service center.

    Punctuality is never a practice with Vivek Service Center technicians (I had another bitter experience with vivek service center, that they took 2 weeks to repair my AC) or even with the Reliance Manager, Manikandan.
    Every technician visit was late by at least 4 to 5 hrs upto 2 days. They don't even bother to call us, if there is any delay. They just want to come in their own schedule, assuming complainants have no other work to do.

    Repeated calls again to the reliance 1 800 number is also not helpful. They ask for 24 hrs everytime to resolve the case. They don't bother to escalate the case either. Every phone rep says that they will escalate, but the next rep says that the case is not escalated and he will do it, but he too never does it.

    I want my money back in full and want all the equipment taken back. All that I got from Big TV was BIG headaches, Big mental agany and big frustrations.

    I WILL NEVER EVER BUY A RELIANCE PRODUCT AGAIN. I WILL RECOMMEND ALL OF MY FRIENDS TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS CHEATING COMPANY.

    Default Reliance Big TV supplies spurious and recycled components to its customers

    Reliance Big TV makes tall claims but only to cheat its customers. If you have a problem with any of your set top box or its components, they will replace it with old recycled parts or spurious which will start malfunctioning shortly. Irony is that they will charge you the price of a new component and also service charge even if the technician did not even touch the set top box. The customer care executives even challenge you to go the consumer court. They claim the TRAI has allowed their policy of issuing old and repaired parts. funniest part is, they would take the component that is not working properly from your house and replace it in your own friend or relative's house and charge them full.... Beware!
