I placed an order with Dell online on March 8th with a promised delivery date of 16th March. On 15th March when I enquired I was told that the delivery date is getting delayed and a tentative delivery date was put at 18th March (verbal). I got a confirmation again that the delivery would be made no later than 23Mar11. Finally I am told by them that they are waiting for the monitor which they do not know when it would arrive and they cannot comitt any date for the delivery of the equipment ordered and PAID. They are willing to cancel my order with no liability of interest or compensation on their part. My queries are:

a) Why did Dell accept the order in the first place if they do not have the stock available.
b) Why are they taking full payment and willing to cancel after over two weeks with no compensation offered for their delay
c) Why should I suffer monitarily as well as with lack of computer due to false promises of Dell.
d) I asked dell to offer a superior monitor at their cost for this folly which they are refusing to do. Alternatively I asked them to cancel the order and refund the money with interest.

I have the names of individuals involved and the order confirmation document that says 16Mar11 as the delivery date.

Please advise what course of action I can take?
