    Angry DELL costumer support



    Dear sir,
    i configured a dell desktop system on their website and they sent a confirmation to me with a price quote, simultaneously one advantage computers from guwahati emailed me and asked for the further process, i sent them my willingness of purchasing one system of dell then these advantage computers (dell sales partner in guwahati) sent me the price i have to pay to dell after including other charges on the basis of rate quoted by dell in their quotation on internet, i prepared a bank draft in the name of dell india pvt. Ltd. Banglore and sent it to advantage computers, after some time when i received my dell system i found that wrong operating system was installed on the system ( i ordered for windows 7 home premium but dell has provided the windows 7 home basic ) since the i am contacting dell customer service but they are not listening to me and keep me shuttling from one to other department of dell, i am going through great agony. Please

    Angry Dell Hard Drive Cutomer Service

    Dell India has to be the worst customer service ever! first of all the hard drive crashed without warning. When we called the customer service centre and told them the messages on screen they said that We will have to pay the Engineers visitng charges of Rs.1800 PLUS the COST of a new HARD Drive(RS.7000) upfront EVEN BEFORE THE ENGINEER HAS COME HOME FOR A DIAGNOSTIC VISITS!

    This payment accepted is only via credit card. 3 days after the money has reached them we get a NO calls from their side and we call them.The customer service agent says they called us even though we did not recieve a call. After that we are told that we will have to give them the old hard drive(the crashed drive). I have to know WHEN i have paid rs.7000 for the new hard drive why should i give the old one to dell!!! They DO NOT even provide data retrieval services!!! So in effect they will take my old hard drive and fix it and resell it!.. THIS IS THE WORSE POLICY ever!!!!

    This is the last time I am buying a dell computer or recommending one to my company or friends.

    And u'll be right in doing so. I faced, if not the same, but somewhat similar dilemma. I have a Dell XPS Laptop, whose warranty has lapsed. I had problems with the internal DVD writer, so wanted it replaced. Following some tutorials online, I found that the process of replacement is extremely simple and decided to do it myself. But when I contacted Dell and asked about purchasing a new drive, I was told that the drive could only be installed by an authorised technician, and that I had to bear the additional expenses of Rs. 1500 for him. What nonsense, my product is out of warranty, so i can do whatever i want with it. But they insisted.
    My solution, purchased an external writer for 1500 online. Price of Dell's replacement product (which includes service charges) 6500. My savings = Priceless
