    Default Multiple Calls and badtreatment by HDFC credit card recovery agents

    Hi,

    I am a credit card holder of HDFC bank with a credit limit of
    Rs.96,000. There is a ammount of 20,000 which is due from me to the
    HDFC bank. I make the monthly payments almost every month and in past
    have done lumpsum payment upto Rs.30000 also.

    In the month of Aug and Sep due to some financial problem I was unable
    to arrange for the minimum amount of payment for that particular
    month. HDFC credit recovery agent Sumit Kumar (ph number -
    011-30836129) made close to 15 calls and even after i explaining him
    that I will not be able to pay, he kept on calling for the payment.

    Questions were like - why cannot you make the payment? you would have
    received your salary? I would send the collection agent to your
    resident address.. etc. etc.

    His supervsior called me the next day approx. 10 times and again asked
    all stupid questions and asked me to sign kind of civil notice.

    I want to know, if it is a crime of not making a payment for 2 months
    in a row? Why do they mentally torture people, is there a resolution I
    can get?

    An early response would be highly appreciated.

    Dear Ms. Anitha,

    If the recovery agents are harassing then, you can take the help of Police Deptt. For any help on Bank level pls. send a written complaint to the Head Office of the Bank and keep a copy of that letter with you. Wait for the response for 15-20 days and revert back soon after getting any help from the bank's side. The address is:

    hi,
    I am a credit card holder of hdfc bank with the credit limit of 20000 Rs. I have used credit card for the amount of around 13000. not more than that, also I had salary account with HDFC bank so if I use credit card, they were deducting money by auto pay from my salary account, now I am not working in the same company so was not able to pay the dues. now m also not living in the country, so they continuously call at my home, and harassing my parents to pay the amount. also giving threat that they will block my passport, they can get all my details of passport and can block it, I am afraid, is that possible?? also they charged me wrong amount, they r telling my dues r 17500 Rs. which I never used. I can pay the amount which I used but why I should pay more, also m credit card holder than why they r harassing my parents and family members?? when my mom pick up the phone a lady abusing over the phone to my mom..is this the way to talk to my parents?? also bank sold me credit card but never told that up-to what limit they can go if I fail to pay my dues. I am ready for settlement but they do not co-operate with it.

    I Hold HDFC credit card with good limit.I lost my Job in march 2009(salary was erratic then non payment of salary).HDFC bank has issued card by looking at my salary details and credentials .After march 2009 I came in financial difficulties but continued payments of minimum dues till end of 2009.(My dues with previous company is more than 5 lakhs)But from november 2009 My financial situation went from bad to worse so could not make some payment.I took another job and now settling down in the job and started making payments to bank also.But because of some defaults recovery agents started harassing me and my wife(she has got nothing to do with it).In january one lady named Jhanvi Patel suggested that I should ask my wife to do dhanda(prostitution) and get the money.I was labelled as thief ,person with low moral values etc etc.This happened thrice in two months duration.Then she went further and started harassing my neighbour (an elderly women and her daughter) they also pleaded with her not to harrase them.I was intending to pay but because of this stopped the payment.Then some supervisory level person intervened and things settled down.We also thought that in Heat of moment such things happens so kept quite.(inspite of using such choicest words to my wife and my neighbor womens).Now after some hicups in life(financial & personal) I am Nicely settling down so requested bank to give me some time so I can arrange the money from my own source and will close the chapter after settlement).My wife also have some grave medical complication but she was taking pain to answer calls from recovery people or for that matter meet them personally.Unfortunately I could not make one payment this month but asked them a week time so I can pay by 5th of June.Suddenly one Mr. Mahesh(Mumbai) came online and repeated the same thing to my wife.(what was suggested by Ms jhanvi patel previously and we committed mistake of ignoring that incident),he went further and started doubting my wifes moral character.Now these people after me started calling her thief,started showing caste bias(he said tumari jaat hi isi hai).Again told her to do dhanda and sell the house and stay on road .Because of this her condition worsend ,she had to take medical help.(repeating again she got nothing to do with this and her medical condition is not good and we have all the papers to prove that).On 27th Mr Mahesh created Psychological mayhem to a women.(I challenge bank to listen to the recording).Then guys over there realized the mistake and one Mr.Karthink tried to cool down the situation.Her medical condition is not good because of that.

    This time we are not going settle this matter.We have all the medical documents to show her grave medical situation.I do intend to clear bank all of its dues(tried as best as I can despite bad time) but What action We can take against Mr Mahesh(do not know the full name and really doubt abt authenticity of the name and also bank not co-operating with this )and Ms Jhanvi Patel bought to the books.All above incidences are real and I can vouch for that and also can be crosschecked with the bank with their recording.

    These are major incidences and were repeated again and again.Minor ones I do not like to harp upon.We are also getting our documents and facts in order and will be approaching Police soon .

    I am specialist in Credit Card disputes and settlement , have resolved more than 1510 cases .Credit card debth will

    be taken care and highest waiver possible .
    Any personal loan issues also do not hesitate to contact me.
    You should know your right ,Collection Agents are not supposed to Harass or annoy the defaulters however chronic

    the default be.

    Can the HDFC guys do anything other than apoligising for the distress which their Rep's cause to the customer and their families. How can someone ask the customer wife to get into prostitution for getting their money. Mr. Aditya Puri please see these customer compliants and I have my doubts whether you will even feel shy. You and your bank employees are the 3rd grade people on this earth and put our country to shame. It is the biggest bank in India after ICICI. Such kind of behaviour is not tolerable. Your people do not respect women and ask customer to put their wives to get into prsotituion. How is RBI allowing such a bank to function in India. I think all the harrassed customers of HDFC and ICICI Bank should get together and screw you guys who are so highly paid for nothing and your bank should be shut down. I think for every such incident the customer should lodge a police complaint instead od posting their griefs here in this forum

    Default Harrasment by HDFC Bank

    I had a credit card with HDFC bank and last year during the recession, I could not pay the credit card dues in time. Finally I managed to get some money and the bank people came forward for settlement. The settlement was done for Rs.6500/- and the settlement letter said that I have to settle the amount in a single installment. Upon pleading with the bank representative he told me that I can do the settlement in 4 installments and he would take care of the settlement. I profusely thanked the representative for giving me this opportunity and paid the amount in 4 installments. This happened in September 2009.

    In May, 2010 the bank people called me and told me that my credit card is not settled and asked me to resettle the card. My financial position has still not improved and moreover I have already paid Rs.6500/-. I have two questions from the bank.

    1. If I had not paid according to the settlement letter, why did the bank not object on making the first installment or the second installment? The bank could have told me that I have to make the settlement in 1 shot or else it will not be valid. Why did the bank wait till I paid the entire amount and then now they are telling me that the settlement is not valid?

    2. I understand that in case my settlement was not valid then the bank has to collect a 'monthly minimum payment' which was not collected for 5 months until may and again for 4 months until September. Why didnt the bank collect the minimum payment.

    My settlement is done and I will not be able to pay any further amount. HDFC Bank wants to squeeze more money out of me. They have been calling from the legal department and are threatening to take me to court. Can anybody please help?
