I need help in taking decision regarding this issue. I lost my citibank credit card, and within one hour some huge amount shopping has been done in Chemmanur jewellers and some silk show room.
CITIBANK is not helping in any way. they did not even send me transaction slips. Initially they told that card has been picked up in Kaveri auto service. And later they did not even provide that picked up card. They are simply asking me to pay that amount. I went to those shops and seen the charge slips, that signature is not at all matching with my signature. CITIBANK personnel clearly told and even they mentioned in their terms and conditions signature is authentication. Signaure should be verified when you are doing shopping. Now without verifying the signature shop keeper has given the goods. it is his mistake. Bank instead of asking shop merchants, they simply asking me to pay. I clearly told that signature is not matching, and I am not going to pay. This incident happend last year june, 2004.
It is really unlawful asking me to pay that amount right. What you people suggest, how to handle this issue. Any suggestions are really appreciated.
If CITIBANK people have provided me the card which has picked up in the shop, i would have argued with shop merchant saying my signature is not matching. Shop merchant is asking do you have the card, how can
you say I did not verify the signature.
