I had a credit card of CBOP which I had not been using for a while now and hence was unaware of any pending dues.
I received some funds in my account and to my dismay , I was not able to withdraw anything. When enquired, I was told that a lien has been placed on my account due to non payment of credit card dues and that now unless I settle the credit card , I wont be able to withdraw money.
First of all, how can anyone bar a savings bank account and that card was of CBOP not of ICICI Bank. Its our hard earned money and I dont think anyone has the right to put a lien without intimating the bank account holder. I have not received any communication whatsoever. I am told it was sent to my old address. I want to ask, that when my account was barred, why was my new address ( which is updated in the account , can be checked in your records) not used for letter of intimation.
Given the above and the fact that at the time of giving the credit card, no one intimated me about this step that can be taken
Anyways, since the lien has been put without any chance given to me to settle the pending dues, I am going to move to the court to get this matter resolved in 3days time till 22nd jan 2012. I will also not be settling any amount for the credit card since I cannot withdraw any money from this account
Since my new address has been always with ICICI bank, I dont understand why the intimation letter was sent to some old address. Basis this, I demand that the lien be removed from my account, so that I can go ahead with the settlement process.
