I am writing to bring to your notice the gross negligence observed by barclays bank in offering a solution to an ongoing dispute I have with them for over 12 months. On 30th april 2008 I received a call from a certain Mr. Dinesh from barclays bank informing me of purchases made from my card for the following amount at the following merchant establishments. Om samai palace - Rs. 200 Bhagwati Jewellers - Rs. 1296 Parsavanath Jewellers - Rs. 4056 Varsha wines - Rs. 216 Clearly these transactions were not done by me and I was advised by barclays representative that I shall not be liable to make payments towards the aforementioned transactions. He also advised me to wait for 3 months for the final outcome of an enquiry which he said would be made by the bank. Following this conversation till date I have not received any intimation from bank as to the result of this enquiry, neither have I been given a final solution to this issue. I have, on numerous occasions, spoken with numerous people from barclays regarding this issue and at all times I have been told that the inquiry is still ongoing and a final outcome is yet to be reached. Furthermore I have been asked to pay the amount for which these transactions were made. I have also discussed this matter at length with a certain Ms. Neha Gupta ( Team Supervisor )at your Mumbai Office in the customer service department at barclays, She too had promised me a reversal of the entire interest amount, however till date nothing has been done and I am still being charged interest on the transactions that I did not make. In spite of having made payments of over 25 thousand rupees which is in excess of what I actually owe to barclays bank.
Though I do not mind paying this amount but due to the incorrect information and claims made by barclays representatives, it has resulted in my account to accrue a lot of fines and charges which would not have accrued, had I been given correct information from the beginning, that I am liable to pay the amount for which these transactions were made. It was going by the statement made by barclays representatives I did not pay as he had advised me of zero liability on my part. Now, in all probability my credit score is down and i am being referred to CIBIL
reinstatement of CIBIL credit rating, reversal of interest.
