Barclay bank Dear Sir/Madam,
It is with Great hope that I am escalating this matter to you. I have a
grievance with BARCLAY BANK which I would like to bring to your notice.
Please take a look at the mail that I wrote them as on 08/12/2008. This will
be self explanatory:
*This is in response to the mail that i received from your behalf. My credit
card number is *************677 I do realize that my a/c is due to be paid
for more than three months now. However i would like to point out certain
facts before any action is taken on my a/c.*

*I showed interest in doing business with Barclay Bank only and only because
of the Goodwill of the company so when i was informed that Barclay was
offering me a Gold Card then my happiness knew no bounds. I was told that
since i am already an existing credit card holder through other renowned
banks, i would be offered a great limit. However i when i received my
welcome package i was disappointed in receiving a limit of just Rs.24000 on
a GOLD CARD. In spite of that i decided against cancelling the card simply
because i had faith in the customer service being provided to me as the reps
were always cordial. Less did i know that my expectations were to be
lowered.*

*In the month of March, i used my card to purchase services worth Rs.
12782.50 for which the minimum due for Rs.640.00 was due to be paid before
April22 08. As soon as i received a statement i deposited cheque for the
full amount through HDFC Bank as on April 18th at the Skypark box near my
home. However the check got returned due to difference in signatures. As
soon as i was notified about the discrepancy i went ahead and deposited
another cheque favouring Barclay bank. I would like to emphasis that my
intentions were always to pay off the amount that i owed. *

*However in my next cycle, I received another statement which had a return
cheque fee, a late fee and interest charges. i called up your customer
service number to get the late fee reversed since I had already paid the
total credit amount in full. I also mentioned to them that i was willing to
pay for the return cheque fee and the interest charges. The rep told me that
he would have to arrange a call back for me for which i gave him my contact
number where i could be reached at. Inspite of me giving him the contact
details i got a call back at my home number when i was not available. I did
not get any more call backs. As soon as i got to know that someone from
Barclays had called me, I gave a call back at the Customer Service Number
where I was told that my request for fee reversal had been denied. *

*The next thing I did after being frustrated to such an extent is that i
called up Customer service again to cancel my card. The Representative told
me that the card HAD BEEN CANCELLED and the matter had been resolved. But to
my horror, the very next month I received another late fee letter with debit
interest charges included in it.Upon calling Customer service for the nth
time I was told that i needed to pay the money first and only then my card
would be closed.*

*Needless to say that by this time i am so disappointed and frustrated with
the so-called service that i have received from Barclays Bank that I am left
with no choice but to approach the Consumer Court for my rights. Having said
this, if Barclay bank wishes to come to a negotiation then i am still
willing to pay for the cheque return charges and then the rest of
the charges needs to be reversed and finally my card should be closed
permanently as soon as possible.*

Sir this mail never got delivered to them as they kept on rejecting the mail
request.However what they in turn did was that they black listed my name in
the credit report system because of which my other bank loan requests are
being rejected. At this time all I really ask for them to remove my black
listed name from the credit report system so that I can mange my finance
related issues without any trouble.
I am left with no option except to look towards consumer support for a
resolution to my endless problem.
