Hi,
I had booked rail tickets for 1st May 2009 on 3rd April 2009 worth Rs.3159
from irctc com and made the
payments from my credit card, which I had converted to EMI and the
same was billed to me in my bill for that month. However the tickets
got canceled due to non-availability of seats.I received a mail for
the same from irctc. As per them, Refund instruction for amount of
Rs.3069.00 towards the refund due for the cancellation of Ticket vide
PNR8520323855 has been issued to electronic payment gateway on06-May-
2009,but is not reflecting in my credit status.
Since the payment was converted to EMI, I was charged for the same, and the
payment is treated as Loan (as per the banks rules).
Since the tickets got cancelled, and the Bank received a direct Credit from
M/s. INDIAN RAILWAY for Rs. 3,069.00 along with the transaction fee of Rs.
55.24, The Loan Account was settled, and I was charged the pre-closure
amount.
However an additional entry reflects in my account for tickets booked on
23rd May for Rs. 2923.47. This transaction was not made by me. When inquired
with the bank through mails, unsatisfactory answers were given.
According to them,
Since the payment was converted to EMI, a loan account was created.
When the credit was received from Railways the loan account was closed and
so the additional charges.
However, if the Bank receives the credit from the Railways for the same
amount, how can they claim the same from me.
Kindly guide me to file a case against CITIBank for charging additional
amount on the bill. I have already informed them that I will not be paying
my bills due till this matter gets resolved, nor paying any late fees for
the same.
