HDFC Bank Credit Card Customer Care - How Dumb!

    Default HDFC Bank Credit Card Customer Care - How Dumb!

    I really loved hdfc bank credit card for last 4 years. It was also very easy to use, you could pay online using their net banking which is really cool and quick. Very user friendly. I loved this card and the bank. I have my salary account with them too.

    One day i got a sms from them to get a new platinum card. I accepted the offer and asked them to send it to me. Nothing happend for next 2 weeks. I called up, and they said, they sent the card to my Vashi address and it has been 'received by me'. I am surprise as I never stayed at Vashi in my enitre life!! So I tell them that I dont stay at vashi, how did you send it to vashi address? To my surprise I got to know that, somehow they updated wrong address and wrong mobile no on my account. I complained to them, yelled at them and asked them to block it and send me a new card. Well, to this, they said, we will need to verify that you are the right person and that your address is correct. They say I will need to send them a written request with my signature. They will send it to their headoffice, verify the signature and then change my address and then send a new card. I said fine, lets do it.

    Nothing happens for next two weeks.

    I call them up again and they say - Sir, we have sent the person to your vashi address and you refused to give us the letter. (Obviously since they had incorrect address, they sent it to the incorrect person, yet again, and the person at that address refused, why wouldn't he..). I got mad at them. I told them how dumb they are and repeated the entire history and to correct my address.

    Nothing happens for a week or two. In the meanwhile, i call them up 2-3 times more, each time they not ready to talk to me since i can't verify the address they have on the card which is invalid and obviously I can't guess my invalid address..

    I decide to talk to their supervisor. The lady assures that she will take a personal note of this and send someone to pick up the letter to my 'correct' address. I give her the correct address. I thank her, take her name down.

    Nothing happens for next 2 weeks.

    I call them up again for 2-3 times, the same story continues. I have now given up on this case. I have an outstanding bill of over 35K to be paid. I am ready to pay but i can't until this matter is sorted out.
    (By now i have spoken to their customer care 5-7 times, and two different supervisors twice..)

    I call up again and ask for the same supervisor who had spoken to me earlier. They say - she is busy on another line and can't talk to you. I leave my number and they promise me that she will call back.
    But the dumb person never calls back. By now i have given my correct mobile no to them. And now, to make the matters worse, their folks start calling me, aggressively, asking me why i am not making payments. I explain them the whole story (it takes me 10 mins now to explain this ordeal to anyone.. its been a long journey, you know... )

    The most funniest thing is that their customer care never tracks history of any past conversation. So each time I call up, i have to explain the entire situation. Just to see how dumb a customer care can be, just take a look at the following dumbest ever conversation that you can have -

    My sample conversation with the award winning HDFC Credit Card Customer Care -
    I call up the customer care and tell them that there is a problem with my credit card and that its reflecting wrong address and wrong phone no.

    Customer care person: Surely sir, I will help you with this. Give me your card no.
    (I give him the card no and then he says)

    Customer care person : Sir pls give me your address.

    I Say: Here's my address (Obviously I give him my correct address and explain him that this is the address that I always had on the card and I am hoping somehow they can verfiy this from the history).
    The moment I give my proper address - the customer care person goes -

    Customer care person : But sir, this is not what i have on my record pls give me the address which is currently on the card.

    I Say: Boss, the whole problem is that you guys have updated incorrect address on my card.

    Customer care person : Okay then give me your phone number..

    I say: Well that's incorrect on your records so no point me giving you the correct one..

    Customer care person : No sir, you will have to verify your address/phone no..and the saga continues....
