Dear Mr.Rajeev
Thank you for writing to SBI Cards.
This is with reference to your communication dated June 04, 2008.
Charges : We would like to share with you that against the outstanding balance
of Rs. 13669.33 billed in your statement dated January 01, 2008 we have
received part payment of Rs.900.00 on your account. Therefore your card account
was levied with finance charges.
Every month, your statements are dispatched on the 1st of every month. You have
an option of paying the complete amount due (this appears as total outstanding
on your statement) or the minimum amount due which is either Rs.200.00 or 5% of
the total amount due, whichever is greater.
Kindly note that your payment due date is twenty days after your statement
billing date. Please ensure your payment of atleast the minimum amount due
reaches us by the payment due date.
The interest free credit period for a purchase (and any related debited charge)
apply if the outstanding balance on the card account for the previous statement
period is paid in full by its payment due date. In case payment, is made less
than the minimum amount due or any other amount less than the total outstanding,
your payment revolves on your card account, thus no interest free credit period
available to the card member.
The finance charge will be levied at 3.10% per month ( 37.20% per annum) on a
daily balance basis. (balance subject to finance charge will include opening
balance and fresh purchases). This process continues till the complete
outstanding on your card account is paid in full.
Please note that with the revolving credit facility you can pay only the minimum
amount each month, Your payment must reach us before the payment due date. A
service charge will be applicable to outstanding carried forward, to the full
amount due, if part payment is made to fresh billings. The minimum amount due
which are repaid 20 days or more after the payment due date will attract a late
payment charges 30% of minimum amount due (minimum Rs. 350, Maximum Rs. 600 +
12.36%GST). Thus, please send your payments at least equal to your minimum
amount due by the payment due date every month.
Please note that it takes up to four days for us to realize the payment made or
sent by you. In your case, we received the payment later than the payment due
date. We would request you to plan to send your payments a few days before the
payment due date, so that your account is not levied with any late charges. The
payment due date is the latest date by which the bank should receive the cheque.
We wish to inform you that your SBI Card revolving Credit Facility offers you
the power and flexibility to plan payments against you dues. You need to pay
only your minimum amount due every month, and the balance in easy
installments,
You have the choice to pay any part of the balance over the minimum amount you
consider convenient. The minimum amount due is calculated as a certain
percentage of your total outstanding.
Please note that If you send a payment for the Total Balance before the payment
due date, then no interest charges are applied, so you get an interest fee
credit from the date of purchase to the date on which the above payment is due.
Also if you send a payment for the minimum amount due, or pay part amount less
than the total amount due, then interest charges are applied on the balance
amount from the month your payment starts revolving and on fresh charges that
you incur subsequently.
Please note that the minimum amount is calculated as a certain percentage of
your outstanding, as is currently is 5% of you purchases/cash
advance/fees/charges and is subject to a minimum Rs.200.
If there is some unpaid minimum amount due of previous statements, then these
will also be added to the minimum amount due of your current statements.
Further due to the above mentioned reason as per the statement dated June 01,
2008 the minimum amount due is Rs.26903.69 and the total amount due is
Rs.38623.97 on your SBI card account.
Hence, we wish to reiterate that we are unable to reverse any charges levied to
your SBI card account.
In case of any further queries on the SBI Card, we would request you to reply at
feedback.gesbi@... using the same subject line or call our 24 hours, 7 days
a week, at our local Helpline number 39020202 or 1800-1801290 (for BSNL and MTNL

If you are not satisfied with the response, you can write in to AVP, Customer
Service, head.sbicards@... using the same subject line. You will receive a
