i m rahul(name changed). i have taken a ICICI credit card 4-5 years back & every thing was going good. i used card many time & made full payment also , so as ICICI bank issued me 2 other cards with more limits.

Now at this time things are drastic for me & i have lost everything in business. I have dues on ICICI credit card also & i m very much unable to pay anything this time.

This whole thing happen in last 2 years & i used icici card & started paying minimum amount or little more than that as per fund available with me.

In jan 2010 when i didnt paid my due for 3 month & i found that i m paying only interest & big fee charged by icici , nothing more . i made contact with bank to get a solution & then asked me to convert my amount into 0% monthly installments. Amount due including all interest & fee was 146000/- that time & i agree to pay installments of around Rs.10500 every month to finish it off.

i paid 3 installments in a time period of 6 months & missed 3 somehow. then a recovery agent came to me & asked for the dues on my icici card which was a sum of Rs 156700/-.

i was like dead that time & then i made contact with all bank managers & contact person regarding this & they said interest will be 0% only if u wont miss any on installment.

Now i have paid more than 30000/- for a an outstanding of 146000 & still more than 158000 bank is asking.

In jan 2011 i got payments & so as i tried to close this matter with bank. I asked then to finish it with a sum of Rs.40000/- which was available with me but they refused & asked for at least 125000/- for settlement.

Now again 1 agent is following me like anything when i m in full tension for my future. i asked him not to follow me as i dont have a single paisa in my a/c now. They are asking for some legal action called RRC which is done from collector by a SDM & saying that your & ur family property will be sold for bank collection.

sir i stay in a rented house & if anything like that happen i might do suicide. today is the deadline given by them.

Kindly suggest what to do ? they r trying to play with my family reputation for their collection. i m totally lost .

My name is Navin working for a private organization in Bangalore. I have taken your email ID from the Consumer Court Forum.

Primarily let me appreciate your efforts of providing assistance to the general public in handling issues on debt recovery, its a great noble gesture from your end.

I wanted to take a suggestion from your end, as I am facing certain issues on a credit card that I had taken from HSBC in the year 2004.

I had used the card until 2006 and by then had utilized the entire credit limit available to me which was Rs. 20000/- (Twenty Thousand only). For some circumstances I had to leave Coimbatore, where I had been working, and move to Kerala. After I had moved to Kerala and as I had not intimated the bank, I stopped getting statements and I too gradually forgot about this card, rather I should say I took the liberty of not repaying them.

Couple of days back I received a call from one person stating he's from HSBC who claims that there is an amount of Rs. 217000/- (Two Lakh and Seventeen Thousand Only) accumulated by way of interests and non payment charges. He has further told me that by way of some kind of waiver he has brought down the outstanding amount to Rs 58000/- (Fifty eight thousand).

Today again I received a call from another person, who claimed himself to be from HSBC. I told this person that I was willing to pay a certain amount and close this card, but made it clear that I was unwilling to pay the said Rs. 58000/-. He started harassing me over the phone to which I did not respond any further and he disconnected the call.

I am willing to repay the amount what I had utilized on the card which is Rs. 20000/-. Kindly suggest on how I should take this forward and how I should be responding to the person, if he calls me again.

Would highly appreciate your suggestion in this regard.
