    Default Hdfc credit card harassment

    My hdfc credit card number is 4346-xxxx-xxxx-5480

    Hdfc bank has upgrade my silver card to gold card last year.I sent a
    written request as per their instructions but they sent me credit card
    statement before sending credit card.When I asked for credit card they
    asked me write to them again as my address saying that my address is
    not proper.(If my address was not proper how could they deliver the
    statement? and I already gave my address change and upgrade to gold
    card request in written thats how they delivery statement to my new
    address.)

    Than I requested to them for ATM PIN many times...to my knowledge I
    requested starting from last September ever since I got my first and
    last statement after upgrade...but no response...they asked me to send
    fax with such request and I sent it than they claim we have not
    received any such fax ...the same is true for my phone request.Last
    request I made was 20th may 2008 and they claimed they have issued a
    PIN via mail and it will arrive within maximum 10 days,which has not
    arrived yet.Hdfc customer need this PIN not only for cash withdrawal
    but also to check account status on line on their site so we don't
    have to call them or write to them again and again.

    Than suddenly I lost my card and I immediately reported on phone on
    28th may 2008 at 9 am to customer care executive named Dipika...and I
    requested her to send me an email confirmation regarding card block
    and that I have no outstanding balance as of blockage date and
    time...no email received yet.

    Than I wrote several emails to customerservices.cards@... and
    even escalated my complain.
    I asked following....
    1.what is my account status?..give me outstanding if any or tell me if
    any debits or credit pending effective as of 28th may 2008 ...on
    which I blocked the card....no email received yet...
    2.I have kept my card on hold for now and I wanted an email
    confirmation regarding the same...no email received yet.
    3.I asked if there is any time limit during which I have to request
    for reissue of my lost card? no response yet...

    In this case no amount is involved so I am not sure if I can get any
    compensation for
    wasting my time,money in calling them,energy and mental harassment.

    Forget about the Compensation, jsut RUSH to the nearest Police Station and Lodge
    a Complain.

    2nd: Send an email on HDFC Bank's Own Wesite, email must be mentioned, or Get
    the Information of their Nodal officer, General Manager, Quality Service
    Manager, (If they have any) and also ask them to give you the Banking
    Ombudsman's Contact Details or else you will publish the details in News Papers.

    3rd: Keep all the Correspondance details with you.

    4th: Submit your Complain in writting and get the Acknowledgement.

    5th Who ever gives you call for an on behalf of the Bank for any Recovery, Get
    his complete details, like from which number he is calling from, his name,
    address, identity etc and send an email to bank.

    It might be possible, that if someone uses your card, and then bank will harrass
    you for the payment, so take early precaution.

    dear sir,

    You should complain to their Managing Director by a personal letter
    bringing the facts to his notice and request him to take necessary
    action in the matter. This strategy often works.

    i am hdcf bank credit card holder they are puting more interest to me and
    they are not sending mail bill after the due date they are calling "you have
    to pay this much of amount" (tactics )

    Angry harrassment by HDFC

    hi, my HDFC credit number is xxxxxxxxxxxx1789.
    I had been transfered to UAE and since my e-mail ID was mentioned wrongly in my credit card account details by their executive , i was unable to receive my e-statements. I ask for my E-statement in the month of november 2008 so that i could make the payment however they were refusing to change my e-mail ID due to security reasons as per them , it took more than a month and many ISD calls from UAE and a handful of mails to get my e-mail ID changed in their system so that i could receive e-statement and make the payment.

    Finally in the month of march i got the accumilated interest and late charges which were being charged from me because of their own mistake waved off and made a payment of 11000. Now i have come back and relaised after 5 months of paying the payment , my card is still showing an outstanding of 15676 .

    I fail to understand what is the customercare doing and are they to serve consumer or harrass them? i have made the payment and despite that they have given my name in the CIBIL code .
    At every step they have failed, from feeding in details of the customer to providing e-statmenet to closing the credit card on request.

    they have made a defaulter out of me despite all efforts i made and continuous reminders from overseas so that i could make the payment and clear my outstandings.

    I request you to kindly help , as after making numerous calls i have still not got any response.

    This is with regards to my HDFC credit card



    I was paying my minimum dues regularly till Feb 2009 but then due to
    official work I left country for few days and somehow I flunked to pay the
    bills/outstanding .





    In the month of April 2009, they blocked my Saving Account (Salaried account
    without any Notice and intimation or any phone call and started giving me
    threatening that if you will not pay your whole dues in next one week then
    we will swap the full money from your account which is blocked by us.



    I asked them, have you send me any notice for same. They said we have
    already send to your residence address but when i told them that did not
    receive so far and asked them to send me the copy of notice to me but then
    they said we sent notice letter only once, which as per me not sent actually
    to my address.


    Also without giving any notice before blocking my Saving account, how can
    you swap money and that too from Saving account but the Credit Manger-
    Archana - Branch Rajouri Garden and his agent started abusing and said now
    you will see what we can do with you and they started abusing my family over
    phone and the language they used is so cheap.



    In next one week they swapped my 17k against total dues of 42k against
    Credit card because that is the only money available in my saving account.



    Then I visit there Rajouri Garden office to know the reason for same and to
    know the Credit procedure but then that girl behaved very rudely with me and
    said now we have your 17k and pay your balance dues else we will swap every
    month your salary from HDFC account.



    I also asked her that now my card is permanently blocked so will there be
    any extra late fee or interest will be add from now onwards in reply she
    said NO, there will not be any other charges will be add on your Credit card
    account as it blocked permanently , your total balance amount is 27k which
    you can pay in lum sum or partially.



    I said ok I want to do full and final settlement which she refused at that
    time and asked to pay the amount as per your convenience as now we already
    swapped 17k from your Saving account so you can pay next month.



    After one month, I got a statement where find lot of extra charges added and
    which was around 2200, since then till now the total o/s reached to
    34865.35(increase of around 7800)



    When I have given call to them to discuss the same they said we will add all
    the charges to you and you have to pay them and after that there is no
    response from Bank end.

    Since last two months , my Friends getting calls from recovery
    officer-Archana and his agent of HDFC credit card division for payment of
    balance Credit card dues and again in threatening tone. When he strongly
    denied to accept the threat but then they started abusing him and me too and
    also they started giving calls to my Society Guard on daily basis and they
    use such a cheap language which I can not mention here.


    That lady and her agents are so unprofessional that they simply abused and
    shouted over phone everyday and now I want to file a case against HDFC Bank
    for harassment and behavior used by there employees. They should visit my
    house to settle the card or asked for payment and same have been told them
    throigh my friends but till date not even a single executive vist my housea
    dn over phoen they just abuse which is a big harrasement for me and my
    friends.



    I just want to know isn’t the Violation of RBI Rules and Norms ..



    *FYI*
    *Fair Practices in *debt collection*
    *(a) In the matter of recovery of dues, banks / NBFCs may ensure that they,
    as also their agents, adhere to the extant instructions on Fair Practice
    Code for lenders (circular DBOD. Leg. No. BC. 104 /09.07.007 / 2002–03 dated
    May 5, 2003) as also IBA’s Code for Collection of dues and *repossession* of
    security. In case banks / NBFCs have their own code for collection of dues
    it should, at the minimum, incorporate all the terms of IBA's Code.
    (b) In particular, in regard to appointment of third party agencies for debt
    collection, it is essential that such agents refrain from action that could
    damage the integrity and reputation of the bank / NBFC and that they observe
    strict customer confidentiality. All letters issued by recovery agents must
    contain the *name and address* of a responsible senior officer of the card
    issuing bank whom the customer can contact at his location.
    (c) Banks / NBFCs / their agents should not resort to intimidation or
    harassment of any kind, either verbal or physical, against any person in
    their debt collection efforts, including acts intended to humiliate publicly
    or intrude the privacy of the credit card holders’ family members, referees
    and friends, making threatening and anonymous calls or making false and
    misleading representations

    *Right to impose penalty*
    The Reserve Bank of India reserves the right to impose any penalty on a bank
    / NBFC under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 for
    violation of any of these guidelines.



    Thus, Kindly advise the solution and the procedure to file a case against
    HDFC.

    Dear Sir,

    In respect to the mail appended below I would like to mention that I Pallav
    Kapoor is getting payment
    due alerts on my mobile number 9811827211 from past few days for HSBC card
    number ending with 0676 of Rs 51022/- and minimum amount of Rs 12573/-.
    For the same I have called at the customer care where
    I have not been given any kind of satisfactory reply . They have confirmed
    that his card number is not in
    my name and they need the full card number to check details.

    I am only holding a platinum HSBC Card, card number is 4862 6989 0006 5962 .
    Request you to please
    look into the matter at earliest as this card doesnot belongs to me and the
    guy using this number previously
    has also defaulted with many other banks like Barclays bank, Oriental bank
    of commerce, Citibank etc. I am
    getting collection calls daily on my new purchased vodafone number
    9811827211.

    Please remove my number from your deliquent customer list so that in near
    future their are no collection
    calls made to me. Please revert as soon as possible as I am being harrassed
    daily.

    Dear all,
    I have availed creditcard last year,based on my regular updates I used to get frequent calls from HDFC representatives asking me to go for handloan which I can get approved over a phone call,that is where I was cheated and I have done a blunder,these HDFC guys have sanctioned a handloan of 80k which they have deducted from my credit limitation without my knowledge,when I checked my creditcard statement I found that the loan amount was given to me by deducting from my creditcard limitation,when I checked with customercare they said that I have to repay back in EMI's and when I requested for a preclosure they said this can be done only after six months and additional service charges will be charged,Till now I have been paying around 8500/-monthly with added exhorbant interest and my net banking has been blocked and when I requested for statements they are more interested in collecting EMi's,then finally last month I did not pay the EMI as I wanted to check my statement and then proceed someone by name Kiran/suresh with the phone number 934245807 from Domlur(airport road office) called me and used very vulgar nad abusive language and theretened me with dire consiquence if I dont pay them,Im deeply hurt with the way they sopke to me and Im under great depression,I was much happier without the creditcard,please help me

    Question HDFC BANK Credit Card

    Hi all,

    I am a holder of the HDFC bank credit card, i have had the card for over 3 years and i have always paid my bills regularily, though I havent seen any reduction in my balance of the credit card. Recently I lost my job and im unable to pay any more. I requested for time from them and also asked them for settlement but they refused both. I want to know what i need to do in this respect?

    I was a HDFC card user for 3 yrs of which 2 years i was paying my dues on time, as i was working.Soon i quit job after child birth and my income was tight.I had a principle amount of 17,000 fo which they waived some and said they would settle for 12,000.
    Currently i had only 5000 to pay.Since they were harassing me over the phone, my husband took charge and said he would pay 5k.And pay the rest subsequently due to financial crunch.But 2 days back, the HDFC agent was abusing my husband very bad when he had come , i came inside as per my husbands instructions.The agent was yelling at all my family members, and stating " sell your house , sell your vehicle" etc etc....abusive languages.
    Just imagine our anger, we are a decent family living with a sick father who just recovered from dying 3 months ago, and imagine him listening.
    We are not beggars, or people who were getting less salary, but just that we were incurring an amt of 30,000 every month just for saving our father....so we worked a way around for HDFC settlement.I had been paying even dues with their enormous fine without even asking a single ques, and even they have been coming behind me like for their offers just because i was a "GOOD CUSTOMER" - as stated by them, then why this treatment?
    So let me come to the point....since that guy was yelling, my husband asked him to leave.And he was pushing himself inside thru the gate trying to come in. I called out to my husband to come in, ( i wanted to just some how atleast sell something and settle rather than going thru this);meanwhile the guy was yelling and following my husband when our cocker spaniel barked and chased the guy outside...while my husband caught the dog. My husband just was happy to close the gate, naturally petrified the guy said " i am gonna put case on you for dog bite"( our dog has never bitten anyone till date, and anyone can check the net .....cocker spaniels are very friendly, and morevover he barged in when we have a board clearly stating BEWARE OF DOG)
    My husband being angry said " ok go do that.... i was wanting to settle but since you are tresspassing and bad mouthing my family, i am having second thoughts"
    After 2 hrs the cops called and asked my husband to report.
    there were abt 15 HDFC collection agents, all looking like goondas tall and hefty straing at my husband stading beside the agent who came to our house.The agent( lets name him mr .X) had got a doctor certificate frm govt hospital stating the dog bit him.He made a scratch for himself on his thigh.
    My husband tried explaining to him the fact when the inspector cut him short and yelled at my husband stating that he will put my husband behind bars.The inspector was getting continuos calls and he was repeating this" I am looking at the case currently"
    My husband was asked to pay rs 4000 for the dog bite, we borrowed that amt frm our relative nearby.(imagine our shame when the relative knew this). Then when the inspector gave money...Mr.X started over acting and said" see the mark inspector" the inspector was laughing and said "stop your lie, i know what that mark is...hehe...take your money and go"( so the inspector knowingly supported them.
    Then the inspector asked my husband to pay an amt of 3000 today for HDFC bank. (Dear Admin are the cops allowed to help the collection agents?Are they also with the banks?)
    My husband was planning to go in the evening after office to the police station. But now the cops are calling up continuously and asking my husband to pay the amount by coming to the police station immediately.
    My husband has work and has some pride, and he does not allow me to involve in this due to the fear of the ugliness of law and banks. I want to settle off the amount once and for all, but their approach makes me want to take it upto law.....but where can i go when even the law(cops) are with them.
    The cops and the agents were
    MOCKING
    THREATNING
    and said they will put my husband behind bars for a dog bite......when our dog never bites....
    Where is the Law
    Where are the rules?
    Dear Admin please please enlighten me, are we the criminals.....?I am the card holder...should i go take up the charge on myself.

    Here's an interesting news-item for all those who have suffered harassment and humiliation at the hands of HDFC Bank Credit Card Customer Care Executives:

    Hisar, June 17
    A local court has summoned Aditya Puri, Managing Director of HDFC Bank, to appear in the court on July 17 in connection with a complaint filed against him on charges of extortion under Section 384 of the Indian Penal Code.

    The complainant, local resident Gagandeep Mehta, has alleged that he held an HDFC Bank credit card and had been making regular payments to the bank. However, he changed his residence after which he did not receive any monthly statements.

    The bank issued him a recovery notice for having failed to pay the minimum outstanding dues. The complainant said after receiving the notice he deposited Rs 11,000 on February 2 last year and sought duplicate bank statements from December, 2008, to March, 2009. The bank refused to supply the statements.

    He again deposited a total of Rs 14,000 on three occasions, but the statements were still not supplied.

    Later, the bank offered him a settlement for Rs 27,600. However, when he asked for details of transactions, the bank refused. Instead he was issued a legal notice asking him to pay Rs 47,005. He alleged that he was threatened and abused by bank officials.

    The complainant then filed a complaint in the court of Sunita Gupta, Judicial Magistrate, Ist Class, who has summoned Puri on July 17 to stand trial.
