    Post HSBC Credit Card Harassment

After series of plea to the HSBC Customer care team and the HSBC dispute department to sort out a credit card dispute is in vain. The HSBC credit card that I was holding is since 07/2004 having Card number: 4384 XXXX XXXX XXXX. (Expired on 07/2006 )

    1) Jun 2005 - I moved to USA and used to access my HSBC credit card account thorough online banking. However after some days HSBC made compulsory use of secure digital device for login into online banking. When I requested HSBC Customer care team to send me the device at my USA address, I was said this can not be delivered to USA address. So I was not able to login to online banking for my credit card. Hence I requested customer care to cancel my card as I was not able to see the transactions in my account. I also ensured that there is no outstanding with my credit card account and was confirmed the same from customer care. Also I was confirmed the request has been taken care and the card will be cancelled.

    2) Jun 2007 - When I came back from USA , I called up bank to issue me a credit card and to my surprise there was an outstanding of amt Rs. 112944.00 and following this I received a letter from HSBC to pay the dues. After my discussion with customer care team, I was advised to send a written letter to bank mentioning my concerns.

    3) 07 Aug 2007 - I submitted a written application to bank mentioning my concerns.

    4) 31 Aug 2007 - I got a response from Bank which was not true for my account and was advised to contact Mr Himanshu Bhattacharjee on 022 - 67115651 towards settlement of outstanding dues. I called up Mr Himanshu and after waiting for 3 months and calling many times, I was said, this is very old a/c and it is closed and will receive a call back from HSBC. But no one from HSBC called me.

    4) Finally I registered a complaint with Banking Ombudsman regarding this issue but did not receive any satisfactory response as they wanted an written evidence to prove my request for cancellation of my card. (P.S - I have cancelled 3 credit cards so far but do not have any written evidence. I used to call customer care and the request has been taken care of.)

    5) 04 Feb 2008- Received a letter from HSBC saying the renewal card was delivered to my mother (She has never been to Thane, Mumbai in her life) which is not true and 3 transactions were mentioned in the letter and those transaction dates are in month of Aug 2006 which is after expiry of my credit card which I was holding.

    Here is my concern-

I requested customer support team to cancel my credit card after I reached abroad and I was confirmed that the card has been cancelled.
If the card was cancelled, then why the renewal card was sent to my address?
None of my family members was staying at my address during my absence in the above mentioned periods (Jun 2005- Jun 2007), so the question is how it was delivered to my mother at my mailing address though she was not available here.
Also When I received my HSBC card for the first time, I was asked for Photo ID card by the courier person. Then why the renewal card was delivered without seeing my photo id?
Also I updated the bank my USA address along with telephone number before canceling the card. But the bank never contacted me at my USA address or called me. Only when I came back to India and called up bank, I came to know there is an issue.

    6) 25 Feb 2008 - Banking Ombudsman advised to approach some other forum for this issue.

    7) Sept 2008 - I moved to USA and came back in March 2009,

    8) March 2009 - I received another letter from HSBC for an outstanding amount of Rs. 229,209.77 from the bank.

To put a note to this I just wanted to inform that I do not have any outstanding dues from any bank so far.

Ø I had 2 Personal loans from Citibank and Standard charted and Loan accounts closed successfully after the payment.

Ø I had Credit card with ICICI, Citibank and Barclay. However now I have cancelled these credit cards after this issue with HSBC and there is no outstanding. Also I do not want to go through the mental harassment like this by using these credit cards.

Ø I have a home loan with ICICI bank and installments are being paid without a delay.

Ø Also in USA I have a very good credit score (780)

Request you please look into this matter and advise what should be my next step.

    Thanks
    BP

Even if you have got no credit card statement due to any exigencies or mistake
on part of credit card company and u know that you have a pending payment to be
made for card usage , u got to pay the the bank. Credit card stateemnt can be
delivered by the bank through fax, email or post. Ask them for any of these
    options.

    Regards

Default Harassment by HSBC credit card collectors

    Hi,

I was an HSBC gold credit card holder and in May 2008 had an outstanding of 41,775 for the period July-Aug 2008. Before that (in May and June 2008) I had called up and informed HSBC customer care services about my unavailability at the mailing address and instead requested for my statements through email. They never mailed my any of my statements. I paid the amounts in installments (as my credit was converted to loans to be paid in installments of 1600 rs.) for two more months (june and july) and stopped making the payments thereafter as did not receive any statement. After more than a year in Jan 2010, I received a mail from HSBC asking me to pay up 111000 within two days. I had a talk with the contact person who asked me then to pay up 80000 in one shot. Irrespective of my explaining the situation that I was wrongly charged for the fault of bank and am pursuing my education right now, I was continuously harassed on phone and was threatened that my institute will be contacted instead if I refused to take up phone call. Despite my repeated request to mail me the right amount to pay and communicate only through phone, I was sent threatening messages saying that I have been traced and that legal action would be taken against me. I have agreed to pay them a amount more than I had a credit for i.e. 45K within a week but their threatening has caused me considerable mental trauma. Please advice what should I do?

I continually get calls from these two numbers 866-469-6445 and 800-361-5783. These telephone calls are at all times multiples throughout the day.
After some research I have found this traces back to HSBC, financial, accounts receiable.
The person they are looking for is "Janna Van Gent". There is NO such person living or ever has lived at this address.
There never has been a credit card or loan or any of the sort with the HSBC. I do not have outstanding balances or loans.
