I have just returned from Japan where I received a call from a recovery agent of Standard Chartered bank stating that there were some pending amount against my card (An Amt of Rs. 15000) which was referred to the legal department and I was to make an apperance in the court by a date. When I explained to him the situation that I was not in India, he said that I need to pay the amount to Standard Chartered bank and fax him the copy of the receipt.

He said that on receipt of the receipt he would send me a NOC against the payment. Till the time the payment was made he called almost 7 times but once the payment was done and when I tried to reach him on the phone no which had come on my mobile phone, the phoe suddenly went out of service.

It is almost 4 months since this has happened and there is no sign of the agent nor the NOC letter from Standard Chartered bank.

This is sheer harassement of the consumer.

Request the concerned authorities to make note of this and take adequate action against the agent and the bank.
