    Default Standard Chartered Mis Communication

    Dear Sir,
My outstanding as per bank representative was converted into 6 emis. I paid all the emis and when got late once, was asked by the collection executive to pay the instalment and after the payment , i asked for the settlement letter through the following mail.

Hi, I am yet to recieve the letter, since,i have paid this 17,000 in installments and have asked for the letter. The amt. was paid in 4 instalments of 4250 till January, i have even recieved calls before the instalment date to pay my instalments on time. I recieved a call from Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg office that, my settlement has been turned into instalments and it was after that call, i started paying my instalments.I was speaking to Mr. Vineet at that point of time at 011-43695615 Kindly look into the matter and solve this issue asap.

    Their reply

    Ref : 12/09/010584/DH/CRD

    Dear Mr. Mukherjee,

This is with reference to your e-mail dated December 05, 2009.

At the outset, we regret the delay in our response.

    * Your card ending 1121 has been invalidated in our records with
    effect from September 09, 2009.

    * Our records indicate that you have been offered a settlement of Rs.
17,000.00 to be paid in 6 installments. As we have not received the
post dated cheques and the settlement letter, the settlement offer
    stands null and void.

    * On date, there is an outstanding of Rs. 9,578.84 on your card ending

1121. We regret our inability to reverse the outstanding in your card
    account.

According to them, since i have not paid them through pdcs my settlement stands null and void. The payment was mandatory only through pdcs was never told to me and not when my payment for one particular month was delayed.

I contacted them again through mail:
As discussed, there was always a communication gap between Standard Chartered and me.No communication regarding the seriousness of pdcs has ever been told, except now, when i have mailed and required the clarification. If pdcs were required, then how i recieve a call from your executive that your this month's instalment of 4250 Rs. is pending, pls pay asap. Now, i have not recieved any statement, even when i was paying the dues every month, why? Do u want to keep customers in dark, about their outstandings? I have been using this card since 2003, and have paid enough, request you to reverse the outstanding amount, or else i have to approach the consumer forum.

Their recent communication states that they won t be able to reverse and i have to pay 10k to clear the outstanding.

    Kindly help
