The exact same thing is happening to me also. I'm also using the HDFC Credit Card and I'm receiving call from the same number as mentioned in the previous post. They're are not ready to listen to anyone. They ask illogical questions, Argue, Yell at us even if you're polite, threaten us and most above all they even say that they would take out the entire money from my account as soon as I receive my salary. I've agreed to pay the due+current minimum+some extra amount to bring the balance under the card limit. I think this is intentionally done by HDFC Bank to make profits. First the lure the customer, make call to encourage us to sign up for a credit card and the next thing they do is this. I don't think the Indian government is doing anything to stop this.

The exact same thing is happening to me also. I was using the HDFC Credit Card 7-8 months back and stopped using it because I lost my job. From past 6 months they're calling me asking for money (020-41000000) and threatening me. It all began threating me to ask money from my parents though they were not involved in any sense and card is on my name and I'm an adult. So, I continued make payments of 4000 p.m. Last month I asked for settlement to clear off this ache, but they say that first I've to make payment of Rs. 8400 and the amount of settlement will be Rs. 36000, despite the fact that I've not even used it beyond 35000 and were making payments of 4000 each month. A lady named Shirin Khan is handling my case and her manager Preeti Priyadarshini, they both got my parents number through a friend which work in the same bank where my father used to work. They got his number from there and started calling him, as I made a delay in payment. Now, they're saying that they're going to call my father and his manager about this. I don't understand why they are dragging my father's manager into it. So these are the tactics they are using to recover money. I've no option but to give money. There office is somewhere in Satara Road. They're are not ready to listen to anyone. They ask illogical questions, Argue, Yell at us even if you're polite, threaten us.
There's no mean to settle our grievances but to tolerate their behavior.
Please somebody suggest me what I can do.
