Respected Sir,
I had a HSBC credit card and I submitted the first request for the card cancellation on 01 June 2009. Though I got the acknowledgement that it was cancelled, I recieved a call after 6 months in Dec 2009 informing me that there is an outstanding amount which needs to be paid immediately. The amount due was Rs 3273. I paid Rs 3400 in cash (expecting additional service charges) and also gave a request to cancel the card AGAIN on 19 Dec 2009. I called HSBC customer care to confirm the card cancellation and to request a card cancellation statement on 16 Jan 2010 but with no success. The customer service person confirmed that the card had been cancelled. On 17 Jan 2009, I have recieved a statement AGAIN saying that there is a due of Rs 110. This statement also reflects the transaction I mentioned earlier (that is, due amount Rs 3273 and amount paid in cash Rs 3400).
How can a statement be generated after the card has been cancelled and all the dues paid?
How can a service charge be laid on an amount that has already been paid and acknowledged (I have paid Rs 100 extra) ?.
The customer service people keep giving different numbers to call which no one picks up and we end up hearing stories but no action is taken despite repeated calls.
We are unable to reach the supervisors or the Managers.
Every weekend I end up calling and hearing the same thing.
We end up paying service charges for NO SERVICE availed and for making repeated calls.
Can somebody please help me get rid of this card which has been nothing but pain ? Is 6 months not enough to cancel a credit card?
Hoping for a help to cancel the credit card ASAP.
Thanks,
Jayaprakash Rao,
HAL Airport Road, Bangalore.
