Hi,

I had dropped the cheque for my Credit Card payment 0n 30/10/2009 and my due date was 04/11/2009. It was within the time frame of 3 working days.

When I enquired them on 3rd Nov, 2009 about the cheque clearing status I was told that they don't have any information about that. Again I enquired them on 4th Nov and got the same answer. When I enquired whether they had received the cheque or not, they told they don't have any information about that. Again on 6th Nov I enquired and told the details and they told me to cancel the cheque and drop another cheque. By that time I was charged late payment charge of arround Rs441.20. On 9th Nov I called up my bank and asked them to cancel the cheque, but by that time the cheque was cleared (on that day only). Again I called the HSBC and told them that the cheque is cleared from my bank and they still said they dont have any information and told me to wait for another 2 days. Also they told that they will refund the late payment charge. On 11th I checked my credit card account and I was happy to see that they have refunded the late payment fee.

But today while checking the account I found they have charged me Rs618.62 for FINANCE CHARGES FOR THIS STATEMENT and Rs430.40 for FINANCE CHARGES FOR LAST STATEMENT. In total it comes around Rs1050. Which is a huge amount. I dont want to pay this amount. I just want to know what action can I take against the bank and what I need to do now.
