Angry Complaint against HSBC credit card and customer care

    Hello All,

I am Parul sharma. I am writing this to inform you about HSBC credit card fraud and their rude behavior.
I am using HSBC credit card since september 2006. I am an IT employee. I got the HSBC credit card in office campus thru their executive. when HSBC executive vistited the campus area and approached me about Credit Card that time he assured me that "This HSBC credit card is specially for your company and its a life term free card. There is no annual charge or any hidden charge". In promotion i got one alarm watch also and i did not pay a single rupee to get this card. I got the classic silver card with expiry date sep-2008. I enjoyed the card for 2 years and i did not pay any annual membership charge. I was happy with the service and every time i made the payment before DUE date.
In september 2008 when my card got expired and i was not aware of that and never asked HSBC to renew my card or to send me a new card. same month i got the new HSBC card with same number. even i never asked them to renew the card. The new card with same number is having the expiry date of september 2011.
Now this year in my october month statement i saw the membership fee of rs 700. I contacted customer care and send email to them also many times but they did not solve my problem and every time they gave me same answer that your card comes under regular traffic with annual charge of 700 rs. I asked them why your executive did not informed me about annual charge and why you did not charged the membership fees in last two years 2006 - 2008. But they told the same thing every time that card is in regular traffic. They did not tell that why they did not charged the membership fees for last two years. all because of this due date got over and collection department started harrasing me.
They are giving missed calls in every 2 minute full day since last 4 days. WHEN I CALL BACK ON SAME NUMBER THEY STARTED ABUSING ME.

i do not know that who is the concern person to solve my problem and what should i do. But i just want to inform all the people that when any bank does the tele marketing the assures that there are no charges and when we get the credit card then they start charging the membership fee. please help me to get rid of this problem.

    Hello Parul.

RBI guidelines are very clear regarding wrongful billing and unsolicited credit card... you can refer the same at rbidocs.rbi.org.in/rdocs/notification/PDFs/67415.pdf and file a complaint to the banking ombudsman for HSBC bank and give him the details. As per my understanding you have received a card without your prior approval and moreover wrongfully billed for which you can claim reversal of charges and refund of twice the amount billed as per the rules which every credit card issuing bank is supposed to follow. I would request you please read the guidelines in the link provided above and email a complaint to the bank's customer care. If you do not receive a satisfactory response within a week after repeated reminders, you can forward the same email to the ombudsman whose details can be found in the following page hsbc website i.e. hsbc.co.in/1/2/miscellaneous/grievance-redressal]Grievance Redressal | HSBC Bank India. You should insist you have not asked for a new credit card from the bank but they have sent you a new card which is against the rules, moreover the rude behaviour is not only objectionable but you should complaint separately for that and ask an apology and compensation caused due to mental strain.

Please be aware that the banks and other institutions are not above the law, they are not following the rules laid down by RBI and Indian Banks Association. They are treating innocent customers like trash. Not only should you as a customer and self respecting citizen complaint against them but should also demand a heavy penalty be imposed upon such institutions. I have similar grievance against HSBC and am pursuing the matter in the same way I mentioned above. I have sent a few mails to them but have not received any response, so I am sending reminders - marking the subject as reminder 1, reminder 2 etc. once the third reminder is unanswered I will complaint to the ombudsman and settle the issue. There are many cases where banks are sending reports to credit information bureau even after cc dues are settled and closed. Actually they are reporting losses on those accounts for the purpose of avoiding tax on profit. They are doing this for unethical gains at the expense of the customer whose name is appearing in the credit information database as a defaulter whereas banks are falsely claiming to make huge losses on those customers' accounts for accounting purposes. It would be wise on your part to close the credit card and obtain a full and final settlement and closure letter from the bank and make sure they do not report any false dues to credit information bureau of India (CIBIL). Sometimes they do not report anything immediately but after a long time they send a false report to CIBIL so please also send an email to CIBIL for you credit report at the following email address myreport@cibil.com with your name, date of birth, present address and PAN card number and they will send you your report by email.

    Happy shopping.

I was having a credit card while i was working in Delhi in 2004 to 2005. I used the card server times and made the payments on time. I have to move to hyderabad from Delhi and in Dec/2006 the card expired. I made all the payments due on the card and did not use the card after that. They sent me another card and i got a call for activation and i asked them not to activate the card. I was under the impression that since i did not activate the card and does not have any dues, it would be closed by now. But 3 days back i got a call from the Credit card company saying that there is a due on my card. They got my number form Naukari. They told me that in Jan/2007 there were transactions made using the card in Noida for an amount of Rs. 20,000, and are now asking me to pay the amount. They are constantly harassing me, even when i told them that i did not use the card after july 2006. How to proceed further in this case. Please help.

Default Let us form a group and attack rude behaviour from HSBC bank

    Dear Sir,

The same fate has fallen on me also. They have charged annual fee of Rs. 700 plus service charges as well as Rs.350 plus service charges for add on card.

I was promised this was free for life card and there are no joining as well as annual fee or any other hidden charges.

Now on April 13, 2010 they have charged these. When I wrote to them, I got a reply from their customer service executive saying that I have to pay these charges, as there is no free for life cards and there is no promotional scheme now running to waive the annual fees.
Let us join as a group and fight up our causes as also lot of other innocent indians against this daylight robbery of HSBC bank.

HSBC CREDIT CARD – FRAUD AND CHEATING

I was holding a silver credit card of HSBC bank for many years. This card was issued to me stating that it is ‘FREE FOR LIFE’ and there are no joining fee or Annual fee or any other hidden fee at any point of time.

True to that, I was not charged any fees for the past many years UNTIL on 13th April 2010, they charged Rs. 700/- plus service charges towards annual fee plus Rs. 350 plus service charges towards annual fee of one add on card.

I sent an email requesting them to waive off the annual fees to customer care department in their email id info@hsbc.co.in on 14th April and I got a reply mentioning that there is no FREE FOR LIFE credit card and that there was some promotional campaign going on at that time, which is not there currently and I should pay the annual fees as above.

I wrote again saying that I was not informed of any promotional campaign earlier and also I was not informed of closing of any promotional campaign. I requested them to cancel the card immediately. They responded saying I have to pay the annual fee as above and then can take up request for cancellation through different channel, by writing to their office address or talking to phone banking.

I do not intend to make the above payment as I feel cheated by HSBC by giving false information and their deliberate intention was to cheat.

    My questions are

    1. Why the annual fee all of a sudden on a card promised to be FREE FOR LIFE?
    2. Why the annual fee or joining fee were not charged in the past many years?
    3. Why was I not informed of the promotional campaign to waive annual or joining fee at the time of taking the card? What are the details of the campaign?
    4. Why was I not informed of the closing of the so called promotional campaign, if at all it were there?
    5. Why was I not given an option to cancel the card before levying annual fees?
    6. Why was I not informed prior to charging Annual fee.
    7. My calendar cycle was from 14th to 13th of any calendar month. Why was the annual fee charged on 13th of April, which prevented me to cancel the card prior to charging the annual fee, as it was charged on the last day of the cycle.
    8. Why was there no mention of the period for which annual fees are charged?
    9. I know of one instance of such levy of annual charges and on request, the same was waived off on 15th April 2010, stating that the fee is waived due to some promotional campaign going on now. That means there is some promotional campaign going on now. Why was that promotional campaign benefits not extended to my card. Why this double standards of HSBC offering promotional benefits only to a few. In what way am I different from those?
    10. Where can I take legal recourse and what are the legal remedial courses available to me from this daylight robbery.

Thumbs down Ref :- Against your Settlement Letter No. RS/CPD/WOFF/NDH/NCM/IMS/44092009/87

    To,
    The Manager
    HSBC Bank,

Ref :- Against your Settlement Letter No. RS/CPD/WOFF/NDH/NCM/IMS/44092009/87

    Dear Sir,
My Self Vishal Khanna previously having Your Credit Card Account No. 4476929988176191 on behalf of dues I received a settlement letter reference number above mention Dated 04th Sep 2009 on your letter head in which you mentioned that my account would be settled by the payment of Rs. 6023 in 2 continuous equated monthly installments before 15th Oct 2009.

As per your letter I gave you 2 equated monthly Installment before the Dated which you mentioned in letter. Details of Cheques are mention below :
    1. Cheque No. 613175 of Rs. 3000/- Dated 8th Sep 2009 on Receipt no. 774653
    2. Cheque No. 613176 of Rs. 3023/- Dated 8th Oct 2009 on Receipt no. 774654

Both cheque has been cleared. So as per your letter my account should be zero and no dews have been left. But I didn’t have the Zero Balance Statement from your side. I made a Tele Call to your Card Cell Help Desk for My Account statement and they Reply told me that there is no need for Account statement as your account is already closed.

But last few days I have received a over dues call from your Bank side by Miss Poonam Gulati who behave very badly to me and my wife in her Words CUSTOMER ARE ALWAYS WRONG it means all the person who deal with your bank are fools and make great mistake to deal with your bank. Can you confirm me is it a right way to talk with your customer. I have already taped her all wrong arguments. It seems very bad for your Bank.

I faced two major problems from your Bank
 In your Executive Words your Bank letter Head has no value even it is signed by the Senior Authorities.
 Your Executive Miss Poonam Gulati makes more than one wrong arguments on me. Which are not tolerable?

Both these conditions force me to go the consumer court against you.

By this letter I have acknowledge you all the matter and hope you should take a appropriate action for the same. Otherwise I have bound to take a legal action.

    With Regards

    Default HSBC Credit CARD Fradulents

    Hi Experts,

Can anyone help me harrsement from HSBC Credit Card.

I have used HSBC Creditcard in the month of 30th May 2009 and I have not received the Credit card statements for the Month of June. So, I was not aware of payment due date. I have received a call on 25th june 2010 from collection department reg the payment for credit card usage, then I told them that I have not received the statement and when they told me that the due date is 24th june. I have paid the amount to the Executive on 25th June immediately with out any delay.

After 2 months they have sent statements with late payment and Interest even after paying the amount. when I called to Customer Care they are simply keeping my call on hold and simply disconnecting the call.I need to be in IVR for 30 min after that I will not get any reply. It happened repeatedly

Now They have charged Rs.10,000/- as interest etc , blocked my card and harrasing me to pay that amount .Inspite of that they are threatning of reporting to CIBIL as a defaultor. When I have mailed them I have not received Positive feedback.

Please suggest me how can I proceed further.

    Thanks for your valuable time.
