CIBIL Credit Record spoiled by HSBC Credit Cards I was using HSBC Credit Card No. XXXX 2282 few years back and I was charged zero annual fees for that for first year. My wife was issued add-on card No. XXXX 6218. Within the period of one year HSBC had issued me another credit card XXXX 0152 which was a life time free card. After receiving a life time free card there was no requirement to continue with the paid card and subsequently I had called the HSBC helpline for the cancellation of the card No. XXXX 2282.
I had never asked for the renewal of card as well as not made any transactions using any of the HSBC cards. However I learnt that I have been charged with annual fees. This action was solely been taken by HSBC without informing me. I had never asked for the continuation of card and rather directed the bank to cancel the same. However I kept on receiving phone calls for the payment which I do not owe to the bank. Time and again I had called HSBC and informed them this matter.
I have represented this case to HSBC customer care, customer connect manager, nodal officer and country head as mentioned in banking ombudsman procedure. I have presented my case to Banking Ombudsman (The Secretary, O/o Banking Ombudsman, Reserve Bank of India, Garment House, First Floor, Dr. Annie Besant Road, Mumbai-400 018) on 22/05/2009 and they have acknowledged my complaint vide acknowledgement number 2008090009081/12861 dated 12-06-2009.
I was informed HSBC that they have made the required modification in the CIBIL database against my name. I was surprised when I have obtained the CIBIL records for us, HSBC has renewed the “overwritten” remark in my credit record for Rs. 13371/- on 31/07/2009 and “overdue” remark for Rs. 3995/- in my wife’s credit record on 31/01/2007.
I want a strong punitive action be initiated against HSBC for their act and ask them to remove “overwritten” remark from my credit record and “overdue” remark from my spouse’s immediately and send our latest CIBIL reports at their cost reflecting the necessary updates.
Also direct them to pay the compensation to me towards the charges for the correspondence with them, time loss harassment and mental anguish suffered and the mental torture I have to bear with.
