I was earlier (2005-06) using a credit card of ABN AMRO Bank which I stopped using because they started charging late payment fee everytime they send the statement though I was making payment well in time. Everytime I have to call them and persuade them to get these late payment charges reversed.

I decided to stop using their Credit Card after making full payment of principal amount and getting any late payment charges reversed. I didn’t used their card for few months but I received their statements in which late payment charges were not reversed rather additional late payment charges and interest thereon were charged.

One day I received a call from their executive requesting me to use their credit card as I was told to be their good customer. On explaining the case for not using their credit card, he admitted the mistake and reversed all the previous charges and assured me to use the credit card without any hassles. To confirm his words of reversing the charges in my account, I called their customer care after 4-5 days who confirmed that charges are reversed. I again used their card once and on receiving the statement I made the payment well in time but this time again late payment charges were charged in my statement. This time I ultimately decided to make full payment of all my purchases and not to use their card again. But they keep on charging late payment charges and interest thereon in my account. I received call from their executives for making payments of dues which I declined to pay as these does not really pertain to me. They started harassing me and threatened me using abusive language to make the payment which I flatly refused. Now after few years my parents received call (since I am now transferred to other location) to make the payment. Probably the call is either from Recovery Agents posing as caller from Consumer Court to make the payment or face the consequences.

Please guide me what to do.
